Participants are advised to reduce development in coastal areas.
In his speech, Dr. Yasin said that the realm of schools as a pioneer in a disaster requires us to increase our capacity for disaster management. He also gave examples of cases that occurred on the coast of Thailand.
“Improving disaster management capacity is indeed very important if the school sector is to become a pioneer in disaster. For example in the case of the tsunami that occurred on the coast of Thailand. Where the knowledge related to disaster management that was planted in schools turned out to be able to save people who were traveling on the beach by a student named Telle Smith,” said Dr. Yasin.
Furthermore, Dr. Yasin hopes that this workshop can increase public awareness about the potential for megathrust and tsunami, especially in Pacitan Regency. With this increased awareness, the public will be alert to the potential for megathrust and tsunami.
“This activity is expected to make the public aware, especially within the scope of the MGMP IPS SMP/MTs in Pacitan Regency about the megathrust and tsunami potential in Pacitan Regency. Thus, the community will always be alert to the potential for megathrust and tsunamis in Pacitan Regency, “said Dr. Yasin
