FKIP – Real Work Lecture (KKN) is a mandatory activity that must be followed by students at the tertiary level. KKN is a form of accountability for the implementation of scientific disciplines from theoretical to empirical as well as the realization of the implementation of the Tri Dharma of Higher Education.
In line with this, the Group of 22 Community Service Programs at Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta for the July-August 2022 period carried out 45 days of service from July 12 to August 25, 2022. Carrying the theme of poverty, they carried out the service in Karangasem Village, Laweyan, Surakarta.
Chaired by WS Muammar Afwan Ghofar, the Group of 22 UNS KKN consists of 8 people. They are Fatimah Nur Azizah, Citra Mutiara Sahni, Fikriana Arsyada Asna, Erma Nur Setiyaningrum, Wike Rahayu, Heri Irawan, Dewi Maslakhah, and Ramadzan Defitri Pratama. In carrying out their service, they are accompanied and guided by a field supervisor (DPL). Meanwhile, their DPL is Dr. Sumarwati, M. Pd who is one of the lecturers at UNS.
Based on the themes obtained, Community Service Group 22 participated in developing MSMEs in the Karangasem environment by socializing MSMEs. The program aims to improve the economy of the community in the Laweyan area. This is based on data from year to year which states that during the Covid-19 pandemic the number of unemployed and poverty levels increased.
Ghofar said that the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic that gave birth to digital transformation and the results of the survey on the needs of the Karangasem Village community gave rise to the idea for the KKN 22 group to socialize the digitization of MSMEs and product packaging. The socialization was held on Saturday (20/8/2022).
“The Covid-19 pandemic which has increased the number of unemployed and the poverty rate has also given birth to digital transformation, instead developing and disrupting the business and economic sectors. Looking at Karangasem’s environmental conditions, it turns out that there are still many MSME business actors who are not familiar with online product marketing. Therefore, we initiated this activity,” said Ghofar.
Ghofar and his team hope that this activity can develop and improve the UMKM sector in Karangasem Village. They also hope that in the future digital marketing activities in Karangasem Village can take place in the long term.
“Hopefully this socialization activity can develop and improve MSMEs in the Karangasem Village environment. We hope to help and educate MSME business actors to be more familiar with the selling process in this digital era. Hopefully, this activity will have a positive impact and digital marketing activities can take place in the long term in the future,” Ghofar hoped
Carrying the theme “MSME Development Through Digital Marketing Improvement and Product Packaging”, UNS Group 22 Community Service Program invited resource persons who are quite competent and experienced in their fields, namely Fiska Amanda Mulia, S. Pd. He is the owner of the @bronislur business. This MSME socialization activity was attended by MSME business people spread across 9 RWs in Karangasem Village.
Fiska explained 4 main points. The four points are the importance of digital business, how to start a digital business, the importance of content and its relationship in building branding and increasing turnover, and the effect of product content on branding. Fiska explained that digital business has many advantages.
“Digital business is very important to advance MSMEs. This digital business has many advantages. These advantages include expanding market reach, accelerating business, being an opportunity to get bigger customers, reducing promotional costs, and further strengthening branding,” Fiska explained.
The socialization activity was continued with a question and answer session and ended with joint documentation.
