FKIP – Educational staff (tendik) is an important component in the process of providing education and services in higher education. They are supporters of universities in implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education and achieving the vision of the institution so that the quality or quality of teaching needs to be improved.
To improve the competence of educational staff, the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a workshop entitled “Improving the Competence of Education Personnel in the FKIP UNS Environment” from Friday to Sunday (26-28/8/2022). The activity was held offline at the Zamzam Hotel, Batu, Malang. This workshop was attended by the Leaders and Education Personnel (Tendik) of FKIP UNS which included academic and non-academic sub-fields as well as courses at the study program level.
The workshop was opened directly by Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. as the Dean of FKIP UNS. In his speech and presentation, Dr. Mardiyana said that this workshop aims to improve the competence and friendship of the staff in the UNS FKIP environment.
“With the implementation of this workshop, it is hoped that it can improve the competence of education personnel in the UNS FKIP environment so that there will also be an increase in performance in serving educational needs. In addition, this workshop is also a gathering place for the extended family of FKIP UNS education staff directly in the post-pandemic era to maintain and increase the impression of togetherness among the educational staff. If there is a problem, we will be encouraged to solve it together,” said Dr. Mardiyana.
Furthermore, Dr. Mardiyana also added that tendik had the same duties and demands and had the same role in realizing the vision and mission of FKIP UNS with the teaching staff. He said that this workshop was expected to increase the responsibility and awareness of the FKIP UNS staff.
“Educational tasks are integrated with the teaching tasks carried out by lecturers. We have the same duties and demands and have an equal share in realizing the vision and mission of FKIP UNS. We have a shared commitment to advancing FKIP UNS. The shift of UNS to PTN-BH makes our task increase. The demands of the community and the government are also increasing. So with this impression of togetherness, we will jointly have the responsibility and awareness to create a better FKIP,” added Dr. Mardiyana.
“As educators, we should be oriented towards the work culture at UNS which is directed to guide the attitudes and behavior of the entire academic community, namely ACTIVE. The first is achievement orientation which means we have to carry out tasks with achievement orientation. The second is customer satisfaction, which means we have to satisfy anyone who needs our services and assistance, especially students. The third is teamwork or work together. The fourth is integrity or having integrity in the institution. The fifth is visionary and the last is entrepreneurship,” explained Dr. Mardiyana.

The activity continued with a prayer reading led by Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Si. He is the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs at FKIP UNS. The activity ended with a joint documentation session.
