FKIP – Students of the Economic Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta who are members of the Brahmahardika Student Activity Unit (UKM) won 3rd place in orienteering at the Archa Buana Sports Feast Vol.1 event on Sunday (24/7/2022).

Archa Buana Sports Feast Vol.1 is a competition event organized by Nature Lovers Students (Mapala) Pamulang University, South Tangerang, Banten.

At the event, Fatimah Azzahro, a student of the Economics Education Study Program who is part of the Brahmahardika UKM, won 3rd place in the Women Elite category.

Interviewed by the fkip.uns.ac.id team, Fatimah expressed the impression she got when she got podium 3.

“Thank God, I’m very happy. Grateful to be allowed to win because it is all the way from Solo to Pamulang. The hope to win is very big and Alhamdulillah to be able to get a podium 3 is a very proud thing for me, “said Fatimah on Friday (29/7/2022).

Furthermore, Fatimah conveyed the efforts and preparations she had made before participating in this orienteering competition.

“From Brahmahardika, there have been preparations for less than a month, such as training centers, maintaining diet, and sleeping patterns. But for the competition this time, only two weeks of preparation because it was tight and coincidentally coincided with other agendas that had to take precedence, “explained Fatimah.

Fatimah also said that although she was still a newcomer, she felt that orienteering was a fun sport.

“If you already know about orienteering, it will definitely be fun because it’s fun, you have to run while thinking and reading maps,” said Fatimah.

In the end, Fatimah invites readers who are interested in orienteering to try it first or can join Brahmahardika UKM.

“A message for friends who don’t know or want to try orienteering, maybe they can try to find out first what orienteering is. You can start with running. Orienteering is not just reading a map, it’s not just an ordinary sport. Running while carrying the map in my opinion is an amazing thing because apart from the physical, the mind is also processed. So, do not run carelessly, but there is a purpose so that the navigation capabilities are used. For those who want to try orienteering, you can try or you can also join Brahmahardika,” Fatimah said.
