FKIP – Students of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta managed to win 1st place in the Poetry Writing Competition Writing Movement (Gelis) #3.
The National Poetry Writing Movement (Gelis) #3 Competition is a competition organized by HIMA (Student Association) PGSD Campus 2 FIP UNY with the theme “Optimizing the Role of the Young Generation through Narrative and Action to Realize Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045”.
In the competition, Wahyu Fajar Lestari, a student of the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program, FKIP UNS, won 1st place.

Interviewed by the fkip.uns.ac.id team, Wahyu Fajar Lestari or often called Tari conveyed his impression when he was declared the 1st winner in the competition.
“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy and proud because at first, I didn’t expect to win. Indeed, my initial motivation was just to hone my poetry writing skills because from a young age I liked to write poetry. The important thing for me is that you dare to try, you can get experience, and winning is a kind of bonus. So, yes, I am very grateful to be at this stage and managed to win 1st place, “said Tari.
In the competition, Tari embeds a poem entitled “Merapal Instinct for Indonesia”. The title explains one of the sub-themes of the competition, namely socio-cultural.
“Well, if translated more specifically, this poem tells about the diversity of sacred and cultural traditions that exist in Indonesia, especially Javanese culture which is full of advice and pituturnya from the time of our ancestors until now. In my area, it is usually called the Javanese instinct. Yes, even though today’s era can be said to be very modern, we must still respect the existing culture because without us realizing it, one of the characteristics of Indonesia is its unique culture. Every culture must also teach good things, there are character values, so you can’t just be evicted. It must be preserved, understood, and respected, especially by the younger generation. So the term ‘casting instincts’ is a kind of our obligation to remember or re-read our culture to realize Indonesia Maju 2045,” explained Tari.
In the end, Tari gave a message not to be afraid to try new things and seek as much experience as possible.
“My message to friends out there is never to be afraid to try new things. While still young, seek as much experience as possible, one of which can be by participating in competitions. Continue to pursue the things that you like, and believe that you are always special with the advantages that exist within you, “concluded Tari.
