FKIP – Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held an Introduction to Campus Life For New Students (PKKMB) the SNMPTN, SBMPTN, and Mandiri entrances are hybrid This activity is carried out in offline at FKIP UNS Building F, Postgraduate G Building, UNS Student Center, and online via the SEMAR TV YouTube channel on Sunday (14/8/2022).
One of the speakers of the activity was Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Si as Deputy Dean for Academic and Student Affairs. On that occasion, Prof. Slamet delivered material on Academic Cultural Ethics, Achievements, and Insights on MBKM Implementation.
In the beginning, Prof. Slamet emphasized to new students that FKIP UNS is a different faculty from other faculties.
“Brothers, we are a different faculty from the others. Its name is the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education. There are two very important words, namely teacher and education. The teacher is a teacher, indeed we will be educated on the character as prospective professional teachers and also as educators so that the courses are related to these two things. Even though the output of FKIP graduates will not always be educators,” said Prof. Slamet.

Prof. Slamet explained that as a prospective professional educator, FKIP student graduates must have 4 competencies. The four competencies are pedagogic competence, personality competence, social competence, and professional competence. In addition to the competencies that must be possessed, prospective professional educators must also follow various types of relevant courses as provisions for later.
“To lead to graduates who are by their goals, there are 6 levels of courses that must be followed. Among them are compulsory general subjects (MK) for PT Indonesia, MK for UNS, MK for FKIP, MK for study programs, MK options, and MK for MBKM activities,” explained Prof. Slamet.

In addition to explaining material about the academic and student affairs of FKIP UNS, Prof. Slamet also emphasized the material on the form of MBKM learning activities (Merdeka Belajar Kampus Merdeka), Main Performance Indicators (IKU), MBKM patterns, and MBKM outputs.
“The output of all of that, it is hoped that FKIP students can become graduates who are superior, competitive, adaptive, flexible, productive, and highly competitive. Competitive can compete with other universities. Adaptive, able to adapt to circumstances because they have been trained to learn freely. Productive, always working with creative products,” he explained.
In the end, Prof. Slamet also emphasized the concept of Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka (MBKM).
“Through independent learning, students are encouraged to master a variety of useful knowledge to enter the world of work. Students are also allowed to choose courses that they will take outside the study program. So, the credits that must be taken in the original study program are 5 semesters, the remaining 3 semesters can be taken outside the study program,” concluded Prof. Slamet.
