FKIP – Students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta succeeded in making a national achievement, namely becoming 2nd place in the Millenial Online Competition (MOC) Essay Competition at the Faculty of Engineering, Hasanudin University. The UNS team that won the achievement was chaired by Ditha Mulia Nur Rahmawati (Mechanical Engineering Education 2019) and members Kristoforus and Puguh (Civil Engineering 2019).

This activity is carried out online starting from the selection of works, announcement of finalists, presentations, and announcement of winners. When it was announced on Monday (20/06/2022), the UNS Team was declared the second winner of this competition.

Ditha Mulia, in an interview with the fkip.uns.ac.id team, stated that her team brought the idea of a solar panel road, namely the innovation of installing solar panels on the road.

“We took the initiative to write an essay related to the solar panel road, namely the innovation of installing solar panels on the sidewalk. This will be useful so that the energy from the solar panels can be stored in the power storage installation. The power storage can then be channeled to supply and meet Indonesia’s electricity needs. In addition, power storage can be used in transportation as a substitute for fuel, so that it can support government efforts related to zero not emission or reducing pollution,” explained Ditha.

Ditha added that the reason for the preparation of this essay idea was because of the high use of fossil energy in Indonesia.

“This essay that we created is motivated by the fact that a lot of energy used in our country comes from fossils, the use of renewable energy is still minimal, and the electricity consumption in this country is increasing,” said Ditha.

Then, Ditha conveyed her impression of winning the competition.

“Alhamdulillah, I am very happy to be able to win this competition with friends from Civil Engineering, Kristoforus and Puguh. Quite nervous too because my friends who made other presentations were also very good. Alhamdulillah, I was able to become the second winner,” explained Ditha.

At the end of the interview, Ditha expressed her hopes for the future.

“Our hope in the future, hopefully in the future we can participate in competitions like this again and can bring the name of UNS to be the champion,” concluded Ditha.
