HUMAS FKIP – The Biosphere Education Study Program Student Association (HMP Biosphere) of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a discussion entitled Biotalk with the theme “Nature Conservation; Preserving Nature for the Future”. The discussion was held online through the Zoom Meeting application on Sunday (9/25/2022).

In her speech, Nathania Almira Chiesa, the General Chair of the Biosphere HMP FKIP UNS, explained that this webinar is a series of Bioleaf activities. Meanwhile, the series includes the National Videography Contest, National Poster Contest, International Essay Contest, 2022 Bioleaf Award, and Biotalk.

“This Biotalk is one of a series of Bioleaf events. Bioleaf is an icon of the Biosphere HMP, a work program of the Passion and Talent Division. This Bioleaf event has a national and international scale by presenting various series of activities including the National Videography Competition, National Poster Contest, International Essay Competition, Bioleaf Award 2022, and Biotalk, “explained Nathania.

Moderated by Mulyati Syahrul Sumarno as a student of the Biology Education Study Program, FKIP UNS, this discussion presented a speaker. The speaker was Kurnia Ahmadin, S.Si. He is a member of the OWA Swara Community. He presented a material entitled “Sustainable Conservation in Pekalongan Regency Forests”.

In the material, he explained the track record of the OWA Swara Community, the OWA Swara conservation in 2022, to the form of OWA Swara conservation activities in Pekalongan. He revealed that there are three forms of Swara OWA conservation activities in Pekalongan.

“What is the form of conservation activities for the OWA Swara Community in Pekalongan? There are three conservation activities: research and monitoring of diversity, strengthening the forest and animal-friendly economy, and biodiversity education. These three activities apply the basic principles of natural resource conservation, namely seeking the realization of the preservation of natural resources and the balance of their ecosystems,” said Kurnia.

Furthermore, he also explained the general description of the Pekalongan Regency, the types of primates in the Pekalongan Regency, to the general description of the three forms of OWA Swara conservation activities in Pekalongan. He gives two points of view on the material he provides.

“There are two points of view that we need to know. First, nature laboratories are useful for science, global identity, ecological functions of landscapes, and protection of diversity at the grassroots level, so regular monitoring is needed. Second, the lowland tropical forest of Central Java is a developing area that can produce food commodities and must be used wisely,” said Kurnia.

The activity was followed by a question-and-answer discussion session guided by the moderator. Then, the activity ended with joint documentation.
