FKIP – Master Program (S-2) Language Education Indonesia The Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a seminar on Learning Indonesian Language and Literature in the Era of Merdeka Learning on Saturday (17/9/2022). The activity was held offline at Building G, 3rd Floor, FKIP UNS, and online through the Zoom Meeting application.

In his speech, Prof. Dr, Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Pd. as the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FKIP UNS welcomes all seminar participants. He also explained the accreditation of the PBI FKIP UNS S-2 Study Program.

“We welcome and welcome to the seminar this morning. Continue to be enthusiastic about participating in positive activities like this. Please note that FKIP UNS has Indonesian Language Education study programs ranging from S-1, S-2, to S-3. Where for the S-1 program has received FIBAA international accreditation. Then, the S-2 and S-3 programs are currently accredited, “explained Prof. Slamet.

Moderated by Dr. Edy Suryanto, M.Pd. as a PBI FKIP UNS Lecturer, this seminar presented 3 speakers. The first resource person is Dr. Uswatun Khasanah, M.Pd. He is the Head of the Education and Culture Office of Central Java Province.

In his presentation, he explained the definition and ideals of Merdeka Learning, the principles of change in the evaluation of the education system, the challenges of advancing education, to the strategic role of Indonesian in Merdeka Learning.

“What is the role of learning Indonesian in Merdeka Learning? There are 6 roles, namely being able to develop the principles of humanist learning, cultivating a dialogical message as a conductor to a life rich in meaning, cultivating a creative learning model, being able to grow a national message to protect national identity, being an inspiration for the realization of the Pancasila Student Profile, as well as the ability of students to manage themselves and the environment. , “explained Dr. Uswatun.

The second resource person is Dr, Sumarwati, M.Pd. He is the Head of the S-2 PBI FKIP UNS Study Program (Kaprodi). He presented the material entitled “Local Wisdom: Research and Learning”. In the material, he explained the term local wisdom in research, concepts, functions, and scope of local wisdom, to the integration of local wisdom in learning the Indonesian language and literature. According to him, there are 5 terms of local wisdom in research.

“There are 5 terms of local wisdom in research, namely local wisdom, folklore, indigenous knowledge, traditional knowledge, and traditional ecological knowledge,” said Dr. Sumarwati.

The last resource person at this seminar was Wati Istanti, S.Pd., M.Pd. as a Lecturer at the Faculty of Language and Letters (FBS) Semarang State University (Unnes). Presented the material entitled “Observing the Differences between BIPA Programs and Teaching”. In the material, he explained the birth of the Indonesian language, BIPA in learning Indonesian Language and Literature, the achievements of BIPA learning, to the benefits and implementation.

“There are 2 scopes of BIPA in learning Indonesian Language and Literature, namely the BIPA Program and BIPA Teaching. The BIPA program is attended by foreign students with 4 materials being taught, while the BIPA Teaching program involves Indonesian students with 5 materials being taught,” explained Wati.

The activity continued with a question-and-answer discussion session and ended with a joint documentation session.
