Utilizing Natural Materials as Environmentally Friendly Dyes, Group of 34 KKN UNS Holds Ecoprint Making Training in Pucangsawit Village

FKIP – Real Work Lecture Group (KKN) 34 Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held training on making Eco prints with PKK RW 11 Pucangsawit Village. The activity was carried out at the Pendopo Pucangsawit Village, Jebres District, Surakarta on (31/7/2022).

This activity was filled out by speakers from ETLO.ID (Ecoprint Solo Indonesia), a business initiated by students of the Biology Education Undergraduate Program, Sebelas Maret University. A business that utilizes these natural materials can help reduce materials that can cause environmental pollution.

“The use of plants as natural dyes can be used as motifs on the fabrics used by eco prints. Some of the products that can be produced from eco prints are tote bags, fabrics, and patterned hats,” said Dwika Sarnia Putri a speaker from Etlo. id when conveying the material for making eco prints.

Some of the products produced are not only more environmentally friendly but also have high economic value. Marketing of eco prints products is not only on a national scale, it can even go to the international arena. This is very helpful to improve the community’s economy.

Dwi Sujiati who is a member of PKK RW 11 Pucangsawit Village said that this activity provides new business opportunities for PKK.

“This training activity is in line with the work program of our PKK, which is related to entrepreneurship. Hopefully, this training can add knowledge to the community so that it can open up new business opportunities,” he explained.

From the training on making eco prints, it is hoped that they will be able to reduce waste that pollutes the environment such as plastic. In addition, it is also a business for a capital-friendly community.

Firman Fajar Wiguna the head of the 34 UNS KKN group said “Hopefully in the future the knowledge conveyed by Etlo. id friends can be useful for PKK women here and in the future they can be more creative to form a movement that has economic value,” said Firman.
