FKIP PR – Student Association The Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program (PG-PAUD) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held an online Golden Age Festival Webinar via Zoom Meeting on Saturday (8/10/2022).
This webinar is the closing of a series of activities of the Golden Age Festival. The theme discussed in this webinar is “Growing and Applying Cultural Values Through Fine Arts to Early Childhood”.
Dr. Anayanti Rahmawati, S.Psi., Psi., MA, as the Head of the Early Childhood Education Teacher Education Study Program (PG-PAUD) delivered her remarks at this webinar.
“On this occasion, the material is very suitable to support the scientific vision of our study program, which is related to art as a foothold in stimulating aspects of art development,” explained Dr. Anayanti.

The webinar was opened with remarks delivered by Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Si., as Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FKIP UNS.
“To develop oneself, including learning and achieving achievements, there is no limit to space and time. Including Saturday and Sunday is a very valuable time for our self-development,” explained Prof. Slamet.

The first resource person, Prayitno, M.Pd., is a Lecturer of Fine Arts at PG-PAUD UNY. He delivered a material entitled “Growing and Applying Cultural Values Through Fine Arts to Early Childhood”.
“Art is divided into 2, namely art and visual. Art means to value or aesthetics. While appearance is something that can be seen in its form or form,” he explained.
Elements of art consist of the fields of form, color, texture, and space. Characteristics of works of art include having volume, being able to touch/feel the texture, being able to be seen from various points of view, and having dimensions of length, width, and height.
“The criteria for creating visual arts for children are easy to find or get around, easy for children to apply, do not require large costs, do not contain harmful substances, are environmentally friendly, and do not harm children,” he explained.
According to Prayitno, cultural values can be applied to early childhood through fine arts, namely linking learning with the momentum experienced by students. For example, on national batik day, students are asked to draw batik.

The second resource person, Novi Rosita, M.Pd., a Lecturer of PGMI IAIN Kediri. He delivered the material with the title “Early Childhood Fine Arts in Developing Cultural Values”.
“Fine art in children is an activity a new form and changing the function of its form,” he explained.
Judging from Piaget’s cognitive theory, early childhood is in the pre-operational stage, which can draw realistic but disproportionately. Then, Novi also conveyed the development of early childhood from language development.
“The function of art is as a medium for playing, a medium for communication, expressing feelings, and expressing ideas, ideas, and wishful thinking,” he explained.
The webinar ended with a question and answer session and a discussion with the speakers.
