FKIP – The Student Association of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program (Demokratia) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held the 2022 National Seminar online via Zoom Meeting on Sunday (8/10/2022).

This seminar carries the theme “Integration of National Culture in Building a Young Generation with the Spirit of Pancasila”.

The seminar was officially opened by Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Sc., as the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs.

“With this national insight seminar, I think it is a very appropriate effort during decadence issues and the erosion of the values of nationalism, nationality, and the
decline in the application of Pancasila values,” said Prof. Slamet in his speech.

The first resource person was Pipit Widiatmaka, S.Pd., M.Sc., as a PPKn IAIN Pontianak lecturer. He delivered a material entitled “The Role of the Digital Native Generation in Maintaining National Culture in the Digital Era”.

“The use of social media is increasing from year to year. The average internet user is a youth aged 18-34 years. Technological developments greatly affect the lives of
Indonesian people. For example, behavior change,” explained Pipit.

Pipit explained the role of the digital native generation in maintaining the nation’s
culture can be applied politely in social media, nationalizing culture through social media, not easily spreading and being influenced by news on social media, and implementing Pancasila values in the real world and cyberspace.

“People who survive are not the strongest people, but people who can adapt to the environment,” said Pipit.

The second resource person is Sociawan Leak who is a humanist. He explained the material with the title “Integration of National Culture in Building a Young Generation with the Spirit of Pancasila.

“Cultural integration is the assimilation or amalgamation of cultural elements to form a
unified culture. The urgency is to maintain the existence of a culture,” said Sosiawan.
The integration process can be through assimilation and acculturation. The things that drive integration are awareness of the homogeneity of social groups, geographical and historical circumstances of the formation of unity, and effective communication.

“The obstacle to the integration process is the community environment that is difficult to accept a change and a new culture,” he said.

The third resource person is Kevin Nguyen an influencer. “Currently, Pancasila already has a verse, it already has its contents, but the soul is not there. So, Pancasila should be raised again by the younger generation. Not just read every day, “said Kevin.
