FKIP – Undergraduate Teacher and Elementary School Education (PGSD) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Public Lecture with the theme Educational Psychology and Counseling Guidance. The event was held offline on Tuesday (13/9/2022) at the Campus IV Hall of FKIP UNS.

The General Lecture activity was held in two sessions with the first session for semester 1 students and the second session attended by semester 3 students. Also attending the event was the Head of the Study Program and all lecturers of Teacher Education and Elementary School (PGSD) FKIP UNS.

Dr. Idam Ragil as the Head of the Undergraduate Study Program for Teacher and Elementary School Education (PGSD) FKIP UNS conveyed to all students that they were expected to attend lectures well and actively participate in the question session and during the lecture process. Students are expected to get useful information and knowledge about the forms and methods of learning and teaching at the Stefan cel Mare Suceava University or Romania.

The main resource persons in the lecture activities are Assoc resource persons. Prof. Aurora Adina Colomeischi from the Faculty of Education at Stefan cel Mare University, Suceava, Romania. Assoc. Prof. Aurora, besides giving general lectures on Educational Psychology and Counseling Guidance, also promotes or pays attention to the mental health of both students and teachers.

“At the Faculty of Education, Stefan cel Mare University Suceava, Romania, which is also a member of PROMPHES, currently focusing on promoting mental health in schools in Europe, because in the last decade mental health problems have increased. Therefore, it is necessary to underscore the urgent need for early intervention with schools providing a unique opportunity to promote the mental health of students from an early age and at a vulnerable age period in their development”, Assoc added. Prof. Aurora.

Next Assoc. Prof. Aurora also advised that schools are ideal places to promote mental health for children and youth, providing opportunities to reach large groups of children during the formative years of their cognitive, emotional, and behavioral development. Therefore, it is hoped that prospective teachers can strengthen personal skills, and relationship skills with students, make responsible decisions, and create interesting and persuasive curricula or learning methods so that they can overcome mental health problems.
