FKIP – Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta hosted the 1st National Conference (Munas) of the Indonesian Science Education Postgraduate Association (APPII) which
was held Sunday-Tuesday (27-29/11/2022).

The opening of APPII’s 1st National Conference was attended by Prof. Sulistyo Saputro, M.Si., Ph.D. as the Head of the Doctoral Science Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) UNS, Dr. Dewi Kusuma Wardani, M.Sc. as the Deputy Dean for Human Resources (HR), Finance, and Logistics FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M.Sc as UNS Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Collaboration, Business
and Information, and UNS Postgraduate.

APPII’s 1st National Conference began with an introduction from Prof. Sulistyo Saputro, M.Si., Ph.D. In his remarks, Prof. Sulistyo said that APPPI’s 1st National Conference was attended by Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta, Padang State University (UNP), Yogyakarta State University (UNY), Surabaya State University (Unnesa), Mataram University (Unram), Bogor Pakuan University, Halu Oleo University (UHO) Kendari, Bengkulu University, Walisongo State Islamic University (UIN) Semarang, UPGRIS Semarang, and several other institutions.

Furthermore, Prof. Sulistyo hopes that the formation of APPII can increase cooperation in science education and learning throughout Indonesia through the same mission, maintaining the quality of science education, and collaboration in research and publications.

“APPII is a collection of Heads of Study Programs (Kaprodi) in Science Education Masters and Science Education Doctoral Programs throughout Indonesia. With APPII it is hoped that it can enhance cooperation in the field of science education and learning throughout Indonesia. Currently, Indonesia does not yet have a Science Education Postgraduate Association. It is hoped that the formation of APPII will have a common mission in science learning. Second, maintain the quality of Science Education so that it is better. Third, in the future, it is necessary to carry out joint research and publications that can be carried out jointly by institutions that are members of APPII, ” said Prof. Sulistyo.

On this occasion, Prof. Dr. rer. nat. Sajidan, M.Sc. also gave a speech. In his remarks, Prof. Sajidan advised how APPII could professorize all Heads of Science Education Study
Programs to be one of the targets for future work programs and in essence, appreciated APPII’s 1st National Conference held at UNS.

The UNS Deputy Chancellor for Planning, Cooperation, Business, and Information who has now been elected as Chancellor of UNS Surakarta for the 2023-2027 period hopes for collaboration in the fields of education, research, and community service.

“The existence of research citations is an effort to increase the H Index in a tertiary institution. In addition, it is a step forward on how to develop learning models that can be applied in real terms. In essence, the collaboration between universities that are members of this association is important in the future. The contribution of Science Education integrates and builds collaboration with all existing networks,” explained Prof. Sajidan.

The final result of APPII’s 1st National Conference at UNS unanimously appointed Prof. Sulistyo Saputro, M.Si., Ph.D. from UNS as General Chair and Dr. This Nursa’adah, M.Pd. from Bengkulu University as Secretary, and at the same time determines all the full board. Apart from that, APPII’s 1st National Conference also produced the Statutes (AD) and Bylaws (ART) as the the operational basis for APPII’s future journey. Finally, the signing of a cooperation agreement between study programs by the Head of the Science Education Postgraduate Study Program who is a member of APPII.
