FKIP – Every education provider or academic community in tertiary institutions, including those in the field of teacher training and science education must apply the Tri Dharma principle of Higher Education. Higher Education Tri Dharma is one of the responsibilities that must be supported by the academic community in higher education. Therefore, students must also understand the Tri Dharma of Higher Education which contains points in the form of education, research, and community service.

In line with that, the Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held the 2022 FKIP Ready to Serve (FSM) activity in Tepisari Village, Polokarto District, Sukoharjo Regency. The activity was held for two days from Saturday to Sunday (5-6/11/2022). This activity is a real action of implementing the Tri Dharma of Higher Education on the point of community service.

Contacted by the fkip.uns.ac.id Journalist Team, Rehan Aditya Saputra as Chair of the 2022 FSM Committee explained that this activity aims to establish friendship and increase awareness of the community.

“FSM 2022 or FKIP Ready to Serve 2022 is a work program from BEM FKIP UNS that is engaged in community service. The target of our activity is the people of Tepisari Village. Meanwhile, the purpose of our activity is to establish friendship and increase our concern as students for the community in general, especially the people in Tepisari Village,” explained Rehan.

The first day’s activities were held in the form of teaching activities. This activity consisted of teaching at SD Negeri 1 Tepisari and teaching TPQ at Tepisari Village on Saturday (5/11/2022). Meanwhile, the second activity is in the form of social service activities. This activity consisted of distributing groceries and free health checks as well as digital marketing socialization for residents in Tepisari Village on Sunday (6/11/2022).

At the end of the interview session, Rehan hoped that this activity would become a routine every year. He also hopes that this activity will have a positive impact on society.

“We hope that this FSM activity can continue every year. Then, we also hope that this FSM activity can have a positive impact on the community, especially in Tepisari Village, and increase the level of welfare of the people there,” Rehan hoped.
