FKIP – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Education Study Circle (LSP) PGSD FKIP Kebumen Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta won the Community Service Award through the Student Organization Capacity Building Program (PPK Ormawa) in Jatimalang Village, Klirong District, Kebumen in June-November 2022.
Abdidaya is an activity that confers awards on student activities in the field of community service and empowerment initiated by the Belmawa Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology.
In the PPK Ormawa program, the Kebumen PGSD LSP team from FKIP UNS initiated the Digital Garbage House with the program title “Development of a Digital Waste Bank in Jatimalang Village, Klirong District, Kebumen Regency”.
Contacted by the fkip.uns.ac.id team, Rika Prima Santi as the chairman explained the background of this idea. According to him, the village where the program takes place produces 20 kg of organic and inorganic waste and has not been managed optimally.
“The background of the activity is that the Jatimalang Village community, the majority of whom work as farmers and tofu-making workers, have an economic level that is classified as less prosperous. The organic and inorganic waste produced reaches 20 kg per day and has not been managed optimally,” she explained on Tuesday (29/11/2022).
This activity was attended by the entire community of Jatimalang Village, Klirong District, Kebumen with the target group namely village farmers, PKK women, youth organizations, waste bank administrators, and community leaders.
The implementation of this program is expected to be able to optimize the available waste banks and improve waste processing skills.
“The goal is to optimize existing waste banks for digitization in the form of websites and improve people’s skills in processing organic and inorganic waste,” she explained.
Furthermore, Rika explained the stages that were passed in the implementation of this program.
“This activity begins with a field survey of the assisted villages to identify existing problems. Then proceed to the next stage, namely Program Socialization, Institutional Strengthening (in this case partnering with the Klirong District Agricultural Extension Agency, the Kebumen Regency Sustainable Garbage Bank, and the Jatimalang Village Government), Making Compost Houses, Making Crafts, Making Digital Waste Bank Websites, Training or Implementation of Use and closed with Monitoring and Evaluation,” she explained.
In the end, Rika expressed her hopes for the implementation of this program.
“The Digital Waste Bank Program is the real work of a team with partners to help protect the environment and empower the community. Hopefully, with the “BERISI” Garbage Bank it can carry out its role as a social and economic engineer to empower the assisted villages,” she concluded.
