FKIP – Students from the Teaching and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta succeeded in winning 1st place in the national student-level essay competition category at the Parab Kawi #4 event. He is Wisnu Firmansyah from the Javanese Language Education Study Program (PBJ).
Parab Kawi is a national-level competition event that has been routinely held every year by the Student Association of Javanese Language Education Study Program (Wibawa) FKIP UNS since 2019. In 2022, Parab Kawi #4 carries the theme “Awakening the Existence of Javanese Language and Literature Post-pandemic Covid 19 with Generations Millennial” and consisted of an essay competition, a regurgitant competition, and a Javanese script calligraphy competition. The three competitions are divided into 2 categories, namely students and students and are generally open to students and students throughout Indonesia.
Contacted by the fkip.uns.ac.id Journalist Team, Wisnu said he was happy and proud. He said that the achievement of this championship would serve as a spirit to improve performance.
“I am happy and proud of course to be the first winner in this competition. I was also surprised that I won 1st place, this was something I didn’t expect. In the future, hopefully, we will be more enthusiastic about achieving even at the end of the lecture period,” said Wisnu.

In the competition, Wisnu brought up an essay entitled “Literacy Ethics of Communication in the Digital Age for the Young Generation in the Frame of Javanese Paribasan Conceptual Metaphors”. The essay contains a study of the importance of internalizing the philosophical values of Javanese culture for the younger generation in today’s digital era.
On this occasion, Wisnu also shared tips for finding ideas in compiling an essay.
“To explore an idea, of course, we have to make an observation. Observations must of course be made as a starting point for me to write this essay. Observations must be balanced with various literacies to strengthen existing arguments, then adjust them to the theme organized by the competition committee, “explained Wisnu.
At the end of the interview session, Wisnu asked other students to dare to get out of their comfort zone. He advised taking part in positive activities to develop my potential and talents within.
“Take yourself out of your comfort zone. Getting out of your comfort zone isn’t as bad as you think. As long as it’s positive and has lots of benefits why don’t you do it? Take part in positive activities to develop our potential and talents,” said Wisnu.
