FKIP – Educational Technology Master’s Degree Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held an online workshop on Wednesday (4/1/2022). This activity is titled “E-Module Workshop for Learning in the Digital Age.”
The workshop which was opened by the Head of Study Program (Kaprodi) Master of Educational Technology FKIP UNS, Dr. Triana Rejekiningsih was attended by more than 100 participants who were teachers and lecturers from various provinces in Indonesia. There were two speakers presented, namely Dr. Eka Budhi Santosa, a lecturer in the UNS Masters in Educational Technology Study Program, and Iwan Maulana, M.Pd., an alumnus of the UNS Masters in Educational Technology.
Dr. Eka Budhi Santosa, in his presentation, conveyed learning media in the form of display media and reality.
“Display media are images that contain information or messages that must be immediately understood by those who see them, without having to explain them verbally, such as flip charts, graphs, posters, bulletin boards, and the like. Meanwhile, reality media is a means of conveying information in the form of actual or original objects and does not experience significant changes,” said Dr. Eka.

The second material was delivered by Iwan Maulana, M.Pd. which describes the development of e-modules. E-module development means that modules are arranged in an electronic format. This module is equipped with interactive links, video tutorials, animations, and audio to support the learning experience.
“The purpose of developing this e-module is to clarify and make it easier to present messages so that they are not too verbal. Then, to overcome the limitations of time, space, and sensory power as well as increase motivation and enthusiasm for learning for students. Apart from that, it is also to develop students’ ability to interact directly with the environment and other learning resources,” continued Iwan Maulana.
Iwan also explained that the development of e-modules has various objectives, namely clarifying the presentation of messages, and overcoming the limitations of time, space, and sensory power. Then, e-modules can also increase student learning motivation, make it easier for students to learn independently, and make it easier for students to evaluate their learning outcomes.
Iwan also explained the ideal e-module criteria, namely essential, interesting, meaningful, challenging, relevant and contextual, and sustainable. The activity ended with a question-and-answer session and discussion.
