FKIP – Program Masters Educational Technology Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta in collaboration with the Center for Development of Information Technology and Communication Education and Culture Central Java Province presented a public lecture with the theme “Utilization of a Learning Management System (LMS) for Online Learning”. The public lecture was held on Thursday (9/3/2023) online via the Zoom Meeting application.

The public lecture was opened with a brief presentation by Dr. Triana Rejekiningsih, M.Pd., the Head of the FKIP UNS S-2 TP Study Program. He brought material entitled “Design of Online e-Learning Learning” in her presentation.

Dr. Triana started his presentation on learning conditions in the current changing conditions. Furthermore, he also explained learning transformations, learning principles in the digital era, learning design standards, to blended learning models.

“The characteristic of learning 4.0 is the existence of various learning portals integrated with the internet or LMS. Through the LMS Model, it is hoped that online learning can be developed more easily, flexibly, and effectively. Online learning that uses the existing LMS portal can improve students’ quality and learning outcomes,” explained Dr. Triana.

Moderated by Dr. Fatma Sukmawati, M.Pd. who is a Lecturer in the TP S-2 Study Program, the public lecture presented 2 speakers. The first resource person was Dr. Siswanto, M.Pd. He is the Head of BPTIK Education and Culture of Central Java Province. He presented material entitled “Profile of the Center for Development of Technology, Information and Communication of Education and Culture”.

In this material, he introduced BPTIK Dikbud Central Java Province. He explained the duties and functions, the field of development, to the work program of the BPTIK Education and Culture of Central Java Province. At the end of the presentation session, he explained the learning web portal BPTIK Dikbud Central Java Province developed.

“BPTIK Dikbud Central Java Province has a learning portal called Jateng Pintar. This portal contains thousands of digital learning resources, which are an effort to realize learning innovation in the industrial era 4.0. This portal can be accessed via http://www.pintar.jatengprov.go.id/,” concluded Dr. Siswanto.

The second resource person is Langgeng Hadi Prasetyo., S.ST., M.Kom. He presented material entitled “Learning Management System“. In addition, he explained the various learning applications and distance learning assessments (PJJ), LMS principles, how LMS works, educators’ position in understanding LMS, and LMS development.

“LMS is made based on 5 principles, namely the teacher is a learner, the teacher learns a lot by paying attention to other people, the teacher learns well when he creates something and expresses what is felt, understanding other people change the teacher, and the teacher learns well when the environment is flexible and easy. Adapt!,” explained Langgeng Hadi.

After the presentation of the material, the activity continued with a question and answer session by the moderator and ended with a documentation session.
