FKIP – Joining a team, The Student of First Wave Chemistry Study Program Professional Education Student (PPG) Pre-service Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta 2022 held an Aquila Reading Corner Program for 2 weeks since two weeks since Sunday (2/26/2023) collaborated with Aquila Study Club tutoring.
The team was chaired by Isna Mauliana with 4 other team members. The four members are Septya Nur Afijah, Umi Fadhilah, Lisarawati, and Lutfi Afifaturrochmah. The purpose of implementing the program is to make tutoring participants interested in reading books and turn reading into a habit so that a culture of reading is formed.
Contacted by the Journalist Team fkip.uns.ac.id, Isna said that this program was an implementation of one of the PPG Pre-service courses, namely Leadership Project II.
“One of the courses in the Teacher Professional Program is Leadership Project II. In this course, PPG students have tasks related to developing potential in students. Students do not have to be in school but can be in a community environment such as a community, landfill, and tutoring. In this regard, we held this program,” said Isna.
Furthermore, Isna also revealed the reason for selecting Aquila Study Club as a partner in this program.
“Aquila Study Club is a tutoring institution that serves students from kindergarten to high school. Aquila Study Club is located at Jalan Space, Jebres, Jebres District, Surakarta City, Central Java. We chose to collaborate with Bimbel Aquila Study Club because the tutoring did not yet have a place to read or the library was unavailable,” said Isna.
Isna also revealed a picture of this program. According to her statement, the program invited tutoring participants to refrain from reading books during the onslaught of devices in this modern era, especially after the 19th Pandemic Covid period. They facilitated tutoring participants by making a reading corner and book. They obtained the book from donations held since January 2023.
At the end of the interview session, Isna and the team hoped that this program could increase the literacy and ability of students to process the information they received.
“With this reading corner program, we hope Bimbel Aquila participants have increased literacy capabilities and can process information well. Hopefully, this reading corner will have a more and more varied collection of books,” hoped Isna.
