FKIP – Study Program (Prodi) Teacher Professional Education (PPG) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held an event to graduate the PPG Students in the Service Batch of 2022 on Tuesday (1/3/2023) offline at FKIP UNS Building F Hall, online via the Zoom Meeting application, and broadcast live via the Semar TV Youtube account.

A series of graduate activities are carried out to strengthen the teacher’steacher’s position as a competent educator as a professional teacher in their field and in accordance with the educational standards set by the government. The inauguration was ratified by taking a professional oath and handing over an educator certificate.

The activity began with a report from the Head of the PPG FKIP UNS Study Program, Dr. A.G. Tamrin, M.Pd., M.Sc. Then it was continued with the reading of the Chancellor’sChancellor’s Decree (SK) concerning the Determination of PPG FKIP UNS Students in the Service Batch of 2022 by Mila Purani Sistiyan, S.E., M.M. as the Academic Sub-Coordinator FKIP UNS.

After reading the SK, the activity continued with taking the teacher’steacher’s professional oath by the Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Sc. and followed by graduates. Then, there was a reading of PPG graduates’ names and taking certificates. Then, the inauguration and release of PPG students were carried out by UNS Deputy Chancellor for Academic and Student Affairs, Prof. Dr. Ir. Ahmad Yunus, M.S.

The PPG Director of the Ministry of Education and Culture and Research and Technology also attended the Graduation Ceremony of PPG FKIP UNS Students in the Service Batch of 2022. He also gave a scientific oration to PPG Student graduates in the Class of 2022.

He expressed his gratitude to UNS for assisting in completing teacher competencies through teacher certification.

“”Thank you to Sebelas Maret University, which has helped us complete teacher competence through teacher certification, with various models, both direct provision of portfolios, PLPG, until now it is teacher professional education. We hope to increase this cooperation,”” said Temu Ismail.

He also said that according to the Ministry of Education and Culture Regulation Number 16 of 2010, to be appointed first in a functional teacher position, the conditions must be a bachelor’sbachelor’s degree, an educator certificate, an induction program certificate, and several other requirements. Teachers who do not yet have an educator certificate but are already ASN at rank 3A or have received a promotion to 3B, 3C, and so on can be directly appointed to a functional teacher position first, then work their way up to get an educator certificate.

Furthermore, he revealed the problems of teachers in Indonesia. According to him, there are 4 teacher problems in Indonesia today.

“This is a teacher problem which is a challenge for all of us. At present, there are still many teachers who have not met the requirements, the availability of teachers is still lacking and uneven, the mechanism for improving teacher competence is still developing, and the provision of incentives from the state budget has not been linked to teacher performance,” said Temu Ismail.

At the end of the scientific oration session, he conveyed 4 messages to PPG FKIP UNS Students in the Service Batch of 2022.

“Keep the good name of your alma mater by working and creating as best you can and wholeheartedly. Continue to learn throughout life to perfect the competence to become a professional educator. Hold fast to the code of ethics of the teaching profession. Use part of the teacher’steacher’s professional allowance as professional development,” ordered Temu Ismail.
