FKIP – To fulfill the Leadership Project course, PPG Pre-service Batch II students of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University Surakarta (UNS) Surakarta Sociology Study Group 2 held socialization at the Smart Park, Gandekan Village, Surakarta with the theme Anti-Violence on Children. The activity with the jargon “Couple Anti-Violence” took place on Sunday (28/5/2023).

This activity was attended by 40 participants consisting of 20 parents and 20 children who are native residents of Gandekan Village. The anti-violence socialization activity aims to raise awareness among parents in the Gandekan Village about the importance of fulfilling children’s rights and preventing violence against children. In addition, socialization was also given to children with an elementary school age target to strengthen children’s character education and equip children on the importance of preventing acts of violence.

This socialization activity also partnered with the Surakarta KAKAK Foundation, which presented three speakers, namely Rita Hastuti, S.P., Intan Prize Rastiti, S.H., and Kiki Nur Fernando. The outreach activities for parents were delivered by Rita Hastuti, S.P., the Coordinator of the Child Protection Program from Commercial Sexual Violence and Exploitation of Children (EKSA) at the KAKAK Surakarta Foundation. In his material, he explained children’s rights that parents must fulfill, bullying as a form of violence against children, the impact of bullying, the importance of preventing bullying, and the efforts that parents must make as a form of bullying prevention.

Meanwhile, Intan Prize Rastiti, S.H., and Kiki Nur Fernando delivered the socialization activities for the children. In his material, he conveys about children’s rights and forms of violence against children. Socialization for children is carried out through songs/yells and body mapping. Body Mapping provides an understanding of the importance of knowing children’s bodies so that children can protect their bodies from all forms of violence. In addition, the body mapping method also introduces children to which parts of the body can be touched and which cannot be touched by others as an effort to protect themselves. With this method, children will understand more about the material presented by the speaker.

After the presentation of the material, the socialization activity continued with a style guessing game and a coloring contest. The guessing game is carried out in groups and is attended by all guests invited by their parents. Meanwhile, the coloring competition was attended by all the children. The participants were very active in participating in this whole series of activities.

Sugeng Sarwono, S.H. as the Head of Gandekan Surakarta Village and his staff welcomed this activity.

“Gandekan Village itself has not held too many themed activities for children, so this socialization activity is very useful because the needs of the children in Gandekan Village can be considered.” said Sugeng, as quoted in the release sent by Nurmalya Dyani.
