FKIP – Independent Campus Learning Grant Team (MBKM) Cerdas Literasi of Early Childhood Education Teacher Education (PG PAUD) Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a series to implement 6 basic literacy as an effort to realize an Independent Curriculum at Al-Faathin Kartasura Kindergarten. The work program was carried out for 5 months, from January to May 2023.

Chaired by Fina Rohmah, the Cerdas Literasi MBKM Grant Team consists of 4 members. The four members are Erlina Nur Octaviana, Nina Anis Safitri, Salsabila Savina Putri, and Salsabila Yudi Shofiyah. In carrying out the program, they are guided by a field supervisor (DPL). She is Vera Sholehah, S.Pd., M.Pd.

Contacted by the Journalist Team fkip.uns.ac.id on Wednesday (14/6/2023), Fina said that in implementing the 6 basic literacy, her team carried out several work programs. The work program began on Saturday (4/2/2023) with the submission and delivery of the work program to the Al-Faathin Kartasura Kindergarten Foundation.

“The Cerdas Literasi MBKM Grants Grand Opening was held on Saturday, February 4, 2023. This activity was attended by representatives of the foundation, namely Mr. Juwadi S.Pd, M.Pd. This activity was also attended by Mrs. Harnewelda Tou, S.Pd., as the Principal of Al Faathin Kindergarten, several teachers, and DPL. In this activity, I delivered a work program. Then proceed with the symbolic handover of the MBKM students to the foundation,” said Fina.

The Reading Corner is the first work program implemented by the Cerdas Literasi MBKM Grant Team. This work program is aimed at developing literacy skills in early childhood. The activity was held on Wednesday (8/2/2023). In this activity, they repaired school bookshelves, rearranged the reading corner space, and provided picture storybooks and educational comic books for students. Furthermore, the MBKM Grant Team gives children direction and assistance to learn the available reading books. Children are also given the freedom to choose the storybooks they want.

The second work program is the Geometry Crank Game which will be held on Tuesday (14/2/2023). This game was developed from the traditional hopscotch game to introduce numbers and geometric shapes to students. This game uses puzzle floor mats that have attractive colors. Apart from developing the ability to recognize numbers and geometry, this activity can train children’s balance and improve children’s gross motor skills in jumping using one leg.

The third work program is Market Day on Thursday (23/2/2023). This activity aims to learn about financial literacy, which refers more to the introduction of currency and the uses of money in everyday life. Students play a direct role as sellers and buyers, so the concept of numeration is in the image of currency and numbers in buying and selling. In buying and selling market snacks, students are free to determine the price of the market snacks they sell.

The fourth work program is Learning with Media Scratch Jr. on Wednesday (1/3/2023). Children are introduced to digital literacy in learning by utilizing digital learning media Scratch Jr. The form of education provided is an explanation of the menus in Scratch Jr., how to design media in Scratch Jr., and how to operate Scratch Jr. With the medium of Scratch Jr. In this case, students are trained in their computational thinking skills in solving problems when playing the media that has been designed.

The fifth work program is a Simple Experiment on Monday (6/3/2023). The experiment that was carried out was the dancing lava experiment as an introduction to the concept of water and air for children. This work program aims to introduce science concepts to early childhood in line with developing scientific literacy skills that can increase children’s knowledge by providing hands-on experience.

The sixth work program is the Mini Outbound which was held on Friday (17/3/2023). The mini outbound begins with group gymnastics and then continues with playing car tracks and running with the ball according to the number in the basket. After that, the child cleans himself by washing his feet and hands. Children are given healthy snacks like fruit sandwiches and guava juice. This is to meet the health needs of children.

The Cerdas Literasi MBKMGrant Teamwork program was closed with an art performance and grand closing on Saturday (27/5/2023). This activity indicates that the work program has been completed, and students are handed back from the foundation to DPL.
