FKIP – Lecturer at the Faculty of Teaching and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta who is part of the Research and Community Service Team (P2M) UNS Community Partnership Program (PKM) Funding Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) with Dr. Dwi Ardiana Setyawardhani, S.T., M.T. from the Faculty of Engineering (F.T.) UNS and Dr. Anung Rachman, S.T., M.Kom. from the Indonesian Art Institute (ISI) Surakarta held an empowerment activity for the Family Development and Welfare Group (PKK) in Maron, Dersono, Pringkuku, Pacitan on Thursday (10/08/2023). he is Dr. Pipit Wijayanti, S.Si., M.Sc.
The empowerment activities consisted of coconut oil and blondo training. A total of 32 participants participated in the training from morning to evening. The training was conducted to optimize the potential of Dersono, especially Maron Hamlet as a coconut producer. The resulting product is expected to be a superior local product that can support Maron River tourism as a souvenir for tourists while increasing the community’s economy.
This aligns with what Dr. Pipit told the fkip.uns.ac.id Journalist Team that this activity was motivated by the not-yet-optimized potential of coconut as a superior local product that can support Maron River tourism.
“We see the potential for coconut that the community has not optimized. It turns out that the products available on the Maron River tour do not yet have anything typical of that area. Therefore, we are working with the people here who hope it will also increase the community’s income,” said Dr. Pipit.
The coconut oil and blondo produced during training are of good quality. With 8 coconuts, 1 liter of coconut oil and 600 grams of blondo can be produced, which is undoubtedly very promising to be traded. After the processed product is finished, the public is also taught how to pack it hygienically and attractively to be offered to visiting tourists or through marketplaces. Apart from training, the team also provided grants in the form of machines and various equipment that could be used for production.

They also provided material presentation and motivation regarding the basis for implementing Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (UMKM) delivered by Dr. Tri Rejeki Andayani, S.Psi., M.Si. They hope UMKM will be formed in Maron consisting of PKK Dusun Maron women.
Pariyem as the Chairperson of the Dersono Village PKK and Dessy as the Head of the Maron Hamlet PKK said they were happy with the training that was carried out. The village and hamlet officials welcomed the training. Through this training, they gain new knowledge and assistance with production support tools.
The cooperation between the two parties will continue so that activities that support Maron River tourism can develop and run optimally through the funding schemes offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture. Thus, the community can feel the benefits of university.
