FKIP – The Student Executive Board (BEM) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP), Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta organized a scientific writing workshop. This workshop was held in a hybrid manner, namely offline in the Hall of Building G, FKIP UNS and online at the Zoom Meeting, on Saturday (29/6/2024).
The workshop activity was opened directly by Plt. Vice Dean of FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Si. In his remarks, Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro expressed his appreciation and gratitude for the implementation of this workshop activity. In addition, Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro said he was proud of the presence of students who had taken the time to attend this useful workshop, even though it was held on the weekend.
“As students, we are always based on research, data, and scientific mindset. Participating in this workshop is the right choice for students. By participating in this workshop, later when we compete, we have prepared well. In addition, long-term achievements, achievements that began long ago can be imprinted in us. So our personalities that are imprinted with this culture of achievement must continue to be well polished,” said Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro.
The workshop, which took the theme “Developing Creativity and Quality of Student Research for a Sustainable Future”, presented 3 speakers who are experts in writing and competing scientific papers. The three speakers included Dr. Pujiyanto, S.Pd., M.Pd., Bagus Prayoga, and Iksan Riva Nanda, S.Pd. The three speakers delivered material related to scientific writing and various tips for participating in scientific writing competitions.
The first speaker, Dr. Pujianto, S.Pd., M.Pd. is a lecturer at Yogyakarta State University (UNY) and Expert Staff to the Vice Rector for Student Affairs & Alumni UNY. In his presentation, he delivered material related to Writing, Organizing, and Packaging Scientific Writing: Actualization of Innovative & Creative Ideas. Dr. Pujiyanto said that students often have difficulty in conveying their ideas and ideas because they are often ‘buried’ with new information. Based on this, students can express their ideas and ideas by conducting research and writing them in scientific papers.
“The ideas that we have can be made into scientific papers, it can be a good domino effect. This scientific paper can actually be written from several things that we often encounter around us because it is rational and logical, so it can be accounted for. This scientific paper is also present to provide an overview and solution to various problems around us,” said Dr. Pujiyanto.
Furthermore, the second speaker, Bagus Prayoga, is the 1st winner of Mawapres UNS 2024. In this workshop, Bagus delivered material related to Scientific Writing in Sigma Competition. Bagus conveyed several things related to the structure of scientific papers and several points that are the main things in writing scientific papers. In addition, Bagus also conveyed various tips for participating in scientific writing competitions and was closed by sharing his experience in participating in various scientific writing competitions to win 25 championships in scientific writing and posters.
Finally, the workshop was closed with the delivery of material by the third speaker, Iksan Riva Nanda, who is the 3rd winner of Mawapres UNS 2022. In his presentation, Iksan conveyed the Practical Writing of Scientific Writing. According to Iksan, scientific writing is something that is implementative, whether it has been done or not.
“Basically, in scientific papers, we just write what we have done, the standard is easier to measure. The paper must be in accordance with the scope that has been determined by the competition organizer or the journal that we will go to. In addition, there must also be novelty, quality of writing ranging from methods to research execution, and ideas that must be accompanied by the benefits to be conveyed,” said Iksan Riva Nanda.
