FKIP – The Integrated Education Practice Implementation Unit (UP2KT) of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a workshop entitled “Evaluation of the Implementation of the Introduction to School Fields (PLP)” on Thursday (11/18/2021). Held offline in the FKIP UNS F Building Hall by implementing health protocols, this activity was attended by the Head of the FKIP UNS Study Program, FKIP UNS PLP Supervisors, and the head of the school where students practice PLP.

In his speech, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. as the Dean of FKIP UNS said that the evaluation of PLP activities is something that must be done to improve the quality of these activities. In addition, evaluation can also be used to find obstacles and problems during activities, so that solutions can be found together.

“The PLP activities must have passed the planning stage which has involved the UP2KT team, Mr. Mrs. principal, Mr. Head of Study Program, and Mr. Mrs. assistant lecturers. After being planned and implemented, of course it is necessary to evaluate whether the plan has been implemented properly. If things are found to be deviant, then there needs to be controlled so that there is an increase,” said Dr. Mardiyana.

At the end of his speech, Dr. Mardiyana hopes that this PLP evaluation can cover the weaknesses and shortcomings in the following year which are indicators of improving the quality of prospective teachers in the future. He emphasized that improving the quality of future teacher candidates is not only the responsibility of universities, but also the responsibility of school principals, teachers, and the community.

“The input from Mr. Mrs. here is hoped to be able to cover the weaknesses, mistakes, and shortcomings in the implementation of PLP in the following year. This of course can be one indicator of improving the quality of prospective teachers in the future. Improving the quality of prospective teachers is not merely the responsibility of universities. Improving the quality of prospective teachers is the responsibility of principals, teachers, and the community as well,” said Dr. Mardiyana.

This workshop was packaged in the form of a discussion. So, the committee opened a session for submitting questions, suggestions, or criticisms of the implementation of the 2021 FKIP UNS PLP to the principal of the school where students did PLP or who represented it. Then, the questions, suggestions, and criticisms will be responded to by the UP2KT FKIP UNS Team represented by Prof. Leo. These questions, suggestions, and criticisms will be the material for evaluating the implementation of PLP next year.

At the end of the discussion session, Prof. Leo expressed his gratitude for the cooperation carried out by all parties involved in the implementation of the 2021 PLP. He also expressed his gratitude for the submission of questions, suggestions, and constructive criticism from workshop participants. Hopefully, this evaluation can improve planning for the next PLP implementation.

“Thank you to all parties involved in the implementation of the PLP FKIP UNS in 2021. Thank you also to the workshop participants who have submitted an evaluation of the implementation of the PLP this year. In the future, we will use this evaluation as material to plan PLP activities in the next year will be even better,” Prof. Leo concluded.
