FKIP – Students of the Physics Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta won 1st place in a virtual speech at the national Virtual Speech Contest (VISCO) 2021.
Kusnul Khotimah, a student of Physics Education study program batch 2020, proposed an idea with the title “Digitalization of Zakat for a Greater Indonesia”. With this work, he won the competition with the theme “Digital Transformation in Optimizing the Role of ZISWAF (Zakat, Infaq, Sadaqah, and Waqf) in the Future”.
Kusnul conveyed the technical details of the competition he went through to get 1st place to the fkip.uns.ac.id team on December 24, 2021.
“Registration, then make ideas and scripts for videos to be submitted, then take videos. Well then, a video was uploaded on youtube to determine the top 10 finalists. Thank God I entered the final and then did a virtual speech for the final session in the google meet room. Then, there was a question and answer session until the winner was finally announced,” explained Kusnul.
In addition, Kusnul also explained the reasons for choosing his idea. According to him, the era of the Covid-19 pandemic has had a wide impact on human life. Both in the fields of industry, economics, and philanthropy. Many institutions must immediately adapt and even take efficient steps to survive and continue to serve their muzakki and mustahik. But this does not become a barrier for Muslims to continue to pay tithe. In this digital era and pandemic, it is necessary to ground the digitization of zakat and introduce it to the Indonesian people, especially Muslims who will later be able to lift the Indonesian economy.
The idea was proposed with the specific goals Kusnul’seasier, namely to make the digitalization of zakat in Indonesia, and to provide education to Muslims to carry out their obligation to pay zakat so that the benefits of zakat can be obtained by the Indonesian people.
With this goal, Kusnul hopes that his idea can provide benefits in increasing Indonesia’s zakat income and making Indonesia’s economy better.
In the end, Kusnul expressed hope for the future.
“Hopefully, with this virtual speech contest, it can bring benefits to me and my beloved UNS alma mater which later can bring benefits to the general public,” concluded Kusnul.
