FKIP – Special Education Study Program Student Association (HMP) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta organizes Sign Language Learning (BEBAS) which was held periodically from the first week of November to the third week of December.
BEBAS is an annual event organized by HMP Special Education. This sign language learning class is divided into two, namely learning basic sign language and advanced sign language. Those in charge were Yasmine and Annisa Wiguna respectively.
Sign language learning classes are aimed at students and the general public with the aim of teaching sign language to students, especially Special Education students and the general public so that they can communicate with deaf friends.

Sign language classes were held online using the Zoom Cloud Meeting platform. The class was held for seven meetings which included joint training with the tutor starting in the first week to the sixth week. Then, at the seventh meeting or the last week, participants take a test that has been prepared by the committee.
Ryandiasta as the head of the Special Education HMP expressed his hopes for holding this event.
“Hopefully more people understand sign language, so they can communicate with deaf friends,” explained Ryan when met by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Tuesday (26/12/2021).
At the end of the interview, Ryan expressed his plans to be implemented in the following year.
“Hopefully this BEBAS class will continue to be held and the quota will increase. Considering that more people outside PLB are interested in this event, it is a pity because the quota is limited. In addition, hopefully, the pandemic will end quickly so that BEBAS classes can be held offline,” Ryan concluded.
