FKIP – A number of Surakarta Sebelas Maret University (UNS) students who are members of the 71 Real Work Lecture Group (KKN) carry out work program activities in Gondanglegi Village, Klego District, Boyolali Regency. KKN activities will be carried out from January 19 – March 1, 2022. This KKN activity is chaired by Agus Riyanto, a student of the Sociology Study Program (Prodi) of the Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) UNS, and supervised by Andriko Sandria, SIP, MA, a lecturer in International Relations FISIP UNS.

This KKN activity in Gondanglegi Village carried out eleven work programs. The eight work programs they carry out were related to environmental and health issues. The choice of this issue was made because in Goligi Hamlet, Gondanglegi Village, there was a case of dengue fever which caused two children to die in 2016. In addition, there was also a lot of garbage scattered about and there was no adequate trash can in the area. For this reason, the UNS 71 KKN Group focuses on hygiene education so that dengue fever does not arise.

The work program of KKN 71 includes socialization about dengue fever, socialization of disposing of waste in its place to students of Madrasah Ibtidaiyah (MI) Nurul Hidayah, provision of painting trash bins, making of garbage disposal sites (TPS), cleaning mosques, and mural patrol posts.

The KKN 71 program involved ten implementing students, village heads, bayans, head of Rukun Tangga (RT) 14, head of RT 15. This activity was attended by seven children who helped with the painting process and about 30 invited guests. In addition, this activity also involved midwives and puskesmas staff to carry out health socialization for villagers.

Agus Rianto, head of the KKN 71 group said that the implementation of KKN in Gondanglegi Village was enthusiastically welcomed and supported by residents.

“The calm village atmosphere makes KKN friends comfortable, besides that the residents work together when more food is given to us (KKN Group 71). In addition, the children of Dusun Goligo are cheerful, so no matter how tired we are working on the work program, they can pay for it,” explained Agus to fkip.uns.ac.id on Friday (25/02/2022).

Agus also conveyed the targets to be achieved in this KKN activity.

“The target to be achieved in this KKN activity is that the security post murals and trash cans that have been held can be useful, and hopefully the public can understand the importance of keeping the environment clean so that there is no more dengue fever in Gondanglegi Village, especially Goligo Hamlet,” explained Agus.
At the end of the interview, Agus also expressed his hopes and desires.

“Hopefully the KKN committee can continue in the same location so that development can continue so that the village can really see the changes. For the village, hopefully, what we have done can help educate residents about environmental cleanliness, and hopefully, it will continue to be cared for,” he concluded.
