FKIP – Ruang Indonesia Bercerita Community which was founded by students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta successfully held the online performance “ARCADIA.” This performance was broadcast on the Ruang Indonesia Bercerita YouTube channel on Sunday (20/02/2020). ARCADIA performance is an art performance intended for friends with disabilities to express their creativity.

The reason for holding this stage is to provide space/containers for children with special needs to be able to channel their creativity so that children with special needs can get their rights. Naufal Allam Gumelar, General Chairperson of the Indonesian Telling Room, said that the ARCADIA event exists because of the lack of forums that accommodate the talents of children with special needs (ABK).

“The ARCADIA event was born because of the lack of a place to accommodate the talents of our friends (with disabilities). We invite the public to care and be lit in inclusion,” explained Naufal in his remarks.

Joko Zulianto, M.Pd. as the Principal of the Sukoharjo State SLB School, expressed his appreciation for the implementation of this activity because it provided a forum for ABK friends to be able to express according to their talents and interests.

“I appreciate ARCADIA activities because they have provided the widest opportunity for children to express according to their talents and interests. It is hoped that this activity can increase the love of children with special needs in arts, culture, and the homeland. Hopefully, this event can educate, express, implement, create, and become innovative activities,” explained Joko Zulianto.

The activity continued with the appearance of a music video entitled “BE HAPPY.” The performance of the music video for “BE HAPPY” gave a message that differences are not an obstacle to making friends. The performance continued with the appearance of the Sukoharjo State SLB student, Suci Ramadhani, who brought her poem entitled “The World is Dark, but My Heart is Glowing.”

Next, a student named Afifah Pitri Nur Azizah sang a song entitled “Mother” accompanied by a keyboard. The performance was continued with the appearance of Jihan Rizky Ramadhan who danced a dance with the background of traditional Indonesian music. Next, Sigit Sajiwo performed a mimed stage. Then Aretha Candraningtyas performed a fashion show. Followed by Amara Aprilia, who performed a make-up demo of the characters at this stage.

At the end of the event, the impressions of the students who participated in this ARCADIA event were also conveyed. All students were very happy to take part in this ARCADIA performance.
