FKIP – Students of the Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta successfully qualify for funding in the Indonesian Student Business Competition (KBMI) event. This was announced through the Instagram page of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) @ditjen.dikti and the web dikti.kemdikbud.go.id on Thursday (4/5/2021).

FKIP UNS students who passed the funding and were also participants of KMI EXPO XII, namely Tutoring Omah Sinau which consisted of Lisa Rosamina as chairman, Salma Nabila Huwaida, and Sayekti Uji Harini as members.

This Omah Sinau tutoring was motivated by the COVID-19 pandemic which affected the learning process in schools and universities. The learning process encountered many obstacles such as inadequate signals to the lack of student understanding of the learning material.

“Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, learning is carried out online from PAUD to higher education. Submission of material online has encountered many obstacles, such as inadequate signals, so that students do not understand the learning material,” said Sayekti Uji Harini to the fkip.uns.ac.id team.

Bimbel Omah Sinau presents a learning system that is by the wishes and needs of students from kindergarten to high school levels, namely offline learning at home and online through synchronous platforms and online video classes.

“Omah Sinau Bimbel can contribute to advancing education in Indonesia by providing tutoring services to students from Kindergarten to Senior High School to get maximum additional learning at affordable costs,” he explained.

In addition, the selection of tutors from students is not only because they have fresh knowledge or as a forum to develop their talents and interests in the field of teaching, as well as a side job to support the cost of living for college.

“We choose tutors from students to provide a platform for them to develop their interests and talents in the field of teaching and help them earn income,” he said.

Sayekti hopes that the Omah Sinau program will continue to be consistently implemented and provide innovation by increasing young entrepreneurs to strengthen national economic independence. In addition, he said that with the existence of Omah Sinau, he had gained entrepreneurial experience, developed a business with financial assistance from the Culture, and guidance from evaluators for the progress of Omah Sinau tutoring.

“We hope that this program will continue to be implemented in the next period because it can help increase young entrepreneurs in Indonesia which will later strengthen national economic independence,” he hoped.
