FKIP – Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Traditional Archipelago Dress Competition in the framework of the 46th Anniversary of UNS. This event was held offline in the courtyard of the FKIP UNS Building and online via the Semar TV Youtube channel and Instagram @fkipuns.official on Friday (18/3/2022).
This event was attended by the leadership of FKIP, staff, employees, and lecturers from all study programs at FKIP. Also presenting art experts, such as Eko Wahyu Prihantoro S.Sn., M.Sn., Intan Winda S.Sn., and Kusnanta Riwus Ginanjar, S.Sn. to be on the jury.
Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. as the Dean of FKIP UNS, in his remarks explained that the traditional Indonesian clothing competition event was aimed as a vehicle for gathering to convey national culture to the wider community.
“This activity is one of the arts activities that we hold as a vehicle for gathering lecturers, education staff, students, and the entire academic community at FKIP UNS. In addition, this activity aims to explore our national culture, show our varied nationalism, ” he explained.

The event was hosted by Winda Dwi Lestari, S.Pd., M.Pd. and Donni Prakosha, M.Pd. This was a success and was entertaining and went lively. By wearing traditional clothes from various regions in Indonesia, the participants looked enthusiastic while waddling around showing off the traditional clothes of each region on the red carpet.
Before the announcement of the winner, Eko Wahyu Prihantoro S.Sn M.Sn. as the jury gave a preview of the results of the show. According to him, each participant needs an understanding of the meaning of usage techniques to regional clothing motifs, so that the next generation does not leave the existing culture.
“There are many things that need to be observed in the technique of wearing it, this is very important because especially in Javanese cultural customs, it has an extraordinary meaning from the technique of wearing it and the motifs, especially in this archipelago, there are so many tribes and of course the meaning of the clothes. , then this is very important for the future we provide an understanding to the generation so as not to leave the culture,” he said.
At the end of the event, the three best participants who participated were announced. 3rd place was won by lottery number 08 Anjar Fitrianingtyas S.Pd., M.Pd. with a total score of 254. 2nd place is the lottery number 29 with a total score of 276, Dr. Harlita, S.Si., M.Sc., while the 1st place winner with a total score of 285 was lottery number 09, Novita Eka Nurjanah, M.Pd.
