FKIP – Another proud achievement was obtained by Education Study Program (Prodi) students Indonesian Language and Literature (PBSI) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta on behalf of Aji Santoso. He managed to get 3rd place in the Men’s General Category of the Java and Bali Orienteering Competition in the Bumi Bung Karno Orienteering Competition which was held by the Indonesian National Orienteering Federation (FONI) East Java on Saturday-Sunday (19-20/3/2022).
Located in Karangrejo Village, Garum District, Blitar Regency, East Java, the event featured 4 categories of foot orienteering. The categories are male students, female students, general male, and female students.
Orienteering itself does not only rely on running speed but also must be able to combine physical and brain strength. In this event, participants are required to navigate using a map and a compass. Participants must also visit the designated points on the map as quickly as possible.
When contacted by the UNS FKIP Journalist Team, Wednesday (23/3/2022), Aji expressed his gratitude for the achievement he got. He also revealed that the results of his achievements will be made a booster to keep practicing to get better results in the future.
“I am grateful for the achievements I made in this Bumi Bung Karno Orienteering Competition. I will use the results of the competition as a motivator for me to always practice running to get better results. In particular, running on the sidelines of crowded lectures and other activities,” said Aji.
On this occasion, Aji also revealed that he received information about the competitions he participated in through social media Instagram. Especially for the orienteering competition, he also received information through the WhatsApp Orienteering Group that he participated in.
“Usually I get race information through the search feature on Instagram. We can type in the keywords of the competition we want to follow by typing the hashtag in the search field. Apart from that, I also joined the WhatsApp Orienteering Group, so I can get this information,” explained Aji.
At the end of the interview session, Aji invited other students to try to find and show their strengths through positive activities.
“The truth is, everyone has their strengths. Not the same, but there. There are only 2 choices, find it and show it or keep it quiet. Let what other people achieve as motivation to find strengths in ourselves,” concluded Aji.
