FKIP – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Regional Arts Development Unit (UPKD) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta participated in the Salahatedu #8 exhibition on Wednesday-Saturday (23-26/3 /2022). The event was held offline at Wisma Seni, Central Java Cultural Park.

Hatedu is an acronym for World Theater Day which is a space for creative activities for the younger generation. The theme this year is “Igniting the Fire of the Mind” with the mission of reviving the sparks of thought on how theater groups can come back to exist, be able to act, and become professionals with works that are done seriously, not only to cancel work programs or just a stage.

On this occasion, UKM UPKD FKIP UNS contributed by displaying one of the arts in UPKD, namely ketoprak using photo media. This was conveyed by Muhammad Arizal Mulyandika as the chairman of the UPKD UKM.

“At the Hatedu Festival yesterday, UPKD was one of the SMEs engaged in theatrical arts, specifically Javanese theater or Ketoprak. We participated in enlivening the Hatedu festival by setting up an exhibition booth for theater groups. the only thing is ketoprak. We package this activity with photo media, so visitors can see the activities we do through the photo,” Arizal said when interviewed by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Sunday (27/3/2022).

Not only ketoprak, UPKD is also engaged in musical and dance arts.

When interviewed, Arizal said that they were invited by the Salahatedu committee to join the festival. After discussion, they agreed to take part in the activity with the aim of celebrating World Theater Day.

“Our goals for participating in Hatedu are, among others, to contribute to celebrating World Theater Day, to promote our UKM to the public, and to increase relations with other theater groups,” said Arizal.

Agreeing to join the festival, Arizal and the UPKD team prepared the necessary equipment before the festival took place. Then, they decorated the available booths using lights, photos, and some other ornaments.

In the end, Arizal representing UKM UPKD expressed his hopes for the #8 Salahatedu Festival.

“UPKD hopes that events like this can be held every year because in our opinion, events like this are an opportunity to appreciate art figures or groups, especially in the field of theater. Although not everyone understands this field, it is for certain people. An event like this is very meaningful. Therefore, we hope that this event will be held regularly to give birth to new talents every year, “concluded Arizal.
