Furthermore, he also explained the material about the essence and meaning of education.
“We can get a lot of ideas from Kartini. Kartini is indeed a figure of emancipation. However, when education becomes the idea of his struggle, he does not just give up education as a subject or as an object which then stops. He runs continuously with the ultimate goal is for the benefit of society. There is no meaning in education without benefiting the community,” explained Dr. Mutiah.

The second resource person is Dr. Siti Fatimah, M.Pd., M.Hum. who is a Lecturer of the History Study Program as well as the Dean of the Faculty of Social Sciences, Padang State University (UNP). He presented a material entitled “Indonesian Women in the Struggle for Education: A Historical Reflection”. He opened his presentation by explaining the purpose of history as a system.
Then, she also explained about the definition of Indonesian women, women and education, the reasons why education became an issue of struggle during the colonial period, and reflected historical facts. According to him, there are four reasons why education became an issue of struggle during the colonial period.
“Why is education an important issue in women’s struggle? Of course the first is to improve social status, as Kartini struggles in realizing gender equality. Then another reason is the influence of hard souls such as colonial and patriarchal times. In addition, there is domestication and feudalism, as well as the shackles of structure and culture,” explained Dr. Siti.
After the presentation of the material, the activity continued with a question and answer session and closed with joint documentation.
