FKIP – The Student Association of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program (HMP PPKn Demokratia) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta held a discussion entitled “Civic Edu Talk” on Saturday (4/6/2022). Carrying the theme “Implementation of Pancasila Values ​​in Overcoming Moral Degradation Among Millennial Generation”, the webinar was held online through the Zoom Meeting application.

Moderated by Nurul Khasanah as a Student of PPKn FKIP UNS Study Program, this event presented three speakers. The first resource person is Dr. Hassan Suryono, S.H., M.H., M.Pd. He is the Head of the Center for Radicalism and Terrorism Studies at the UNS Research and Community Service Institute (LPPM). In addition, he is also a lecturer in the PPKn FKIP UNS Study Program.

In his presentation, he explained the concepts and characteristics of the millennial generation, social changes in the digital era, various types of moral degradation, to strategies to reduce moral degradation. According to him, there are five types of moral degradation that need attention.

“Moral degradation is a decrease in human behavior due to not following one’s conscience. Moral degradation that needs attention includes child exploitation, drugs, sexual harassment of women, corruption, and the lack of adab and ethics of the younger generation,” explained Dr. Hassan.

The second resource person is Dra. Sri Hastuti Lastyawati, M.Pd. who is the Coordinator of PPKn Teachers for SMA/SMK in Solo Raya. In his presentation he brought the material entitled “Making Pancasila as the Foundation of Morals and Norms in the Millennial Era”.

In the material, he explained the general description of moral degradation, the role of Pancasila as the basis for morals and norms, the attitude of the millennial generation in accordance with the values ​​of Pancasila, the causes of moral degradation, and how to implement Pancasila values ​​as the basis for morals and norms. According to him, by actualizing the values ​​of Pancasila as the basis for morals and norms, Indonesia will avoid millennial degradation.

“If we can actualize the values ​​of Pancasila as a moral foundation and normative foundation in the millennial era, and can socialize Pancasila and create a complete society, then can actualize the value of integrity correctly, then Indonesia can avoid millennial degradation,” said Dra. Sri.

The last speaker in this discussion was Drs. Slamet Subekti, M. Hum. He is a History Lecturer at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences (FIB) Diponegoro University (UNDIP) Semarang. He presented a material entitled “The Implementation of Pancasila in the Middle of the Millennial Generation Moral Crisis: Challenges and Hopes”.

In the material, he explained four topics, namely Moral Development Theory, Kohlberg and Lickona, the vision and mission of character education in Indonesia, the image of a good adult citizen, and the implementation of Pancasila values. He explained that the values ​​of Pancasila can be applied as a basis for character development to overcome moral crises.

“In the midst of global challenges and their impact on the millennial generation, we as a nation have hope because the Pancasila view of life contains core values, namely divinity, humanity, unity, democracy, and social justice. These values ​​can be applied as a basis for character development to be able to overcome the moral crisis that we all face together,” explained Drs. good luck.

The discussion was followed by a question and answer session and ended with joint documentation.
