FKIP – The Masters Program (Prodi) of Science Education Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Textbook Preparation Workshop on Tuesday (7/6/2022). This event presented resource person Dr. Memet Sudaryanto, M.Pd. as a lecturer in the Indonesian Language and Literature Education Study Program (PBSI) FKIP Jenderal Sudirman University (UNSOED) Purwokerto.

The event was opened directly by Dr. Sarwanto, S.Pd., M.Pd. as Head of Study Program (Kaprodi) S-2 Science Education FKIP UNS. In his speech, Dr. Sarwanto, S.Pd, M.Pd. said that this event will provide provisions for students to write their final assignments.

“Student’s final assignment is to compose modules, teaching materials, learning tools or textbooks, so that this workshop text preparation event can be learned about how to make a good textbook. In the future, students will not have any difficulties after listening to today’s workshop on the preparation of textbooks, ” he explained.

This event was guided directly by the moderator, Dr. Bramastia, M.Pd. as a lecturer in S-2 Science Education FKIP UNS. In his presentation, Dr. Memet conveys how to make a textbook properly and correctly.

“Development of research results into textbooks must meet several things, namely determining teaching materials in the syllabus that can be developed from research results, reducing research results into textbooks, changing the language of research reports into book language and combining material derived from theoretical concepts with research results. ,” he explained.

In addition, Dr. Memet said that research results cannot simply be included in textbooks, but need to reduce research reports.

Dr. Memet also explains how to write textbooks, one of which is compilation writing.

“Compilation is like repackaging available library materials without any changes or modifications. Meanwhile, the advantage of this compilation paper is that it is more knowledgeable and skilled than various libraries, easier, and faster on the contrary. On the contrary, the weakness of compilation writings is that lecturers are not creative in writing because feel confined, narrow-minded, and prone to plagiarism. In addition, there are adaptations and original writings that make lecturers think and write creatively, “he explained.
