FKIP – Proud news came from the students of the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta who managed to win 1st place in the National Essay Competition in the 2022 Democratic National Competition (DNC) event. They are Abdul Azis and Chaerinna from the Surakarta Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD) FKIP UNS.

DNC 2022 is one of the national level essay competitions organized by the Student Association of the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program (HMP PPKn Demokratia) FKIP UNS. This competition is open to all active high school/vocational high school (SMA/SMK) students and active students in Indonesia. Themed “Analysis of the Effectiveness of Pancasila Values ​​in Overcoming the Moral Crisis Towards the Era of Society 5.0”, this competition is a group with a maximum number of three members from the same agency.

Announced as the 1st place winner on Saturday (4/6/2022), Abdul Aziz or who is usually called Abaz and Chaerinna presented an essay entitled “PRONAGARI: Reflection of Digital Literacy on the Actualization of Civilized Democracy as an Effort for Handling Moral Degradation in the Era of Society 5.0”. This is motivated by three things, namely incessant literacy activities but minimal implementation, specifically writing activities to reflect literacy activities, and moral degradation which is increasingly disturbing.

Contacted by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Monday (13/6/2022), Chaerrina expressed her happiness for this achievement. He said that the results they get will be an injection of motivation to always work.

“Obviously we are very happy and grateful for the results we got in this competition. My colleague, Abdul Aziz, who is currently studying in the eighth semester, but is still active and enthusiastic is an injection for us to always work in the future, “said Chaerinna.

Abaz also added that their motivation for participating in this competition was to channel their ideas and contribute through their ideas.

“The competition is able to accommodate the writer’s idea that is our motivation. The theme raised is also more specific, namely the handling of moral degradation. We are quite optimistic and feel that we have a great opportunity from the realm of education to contribute through our ideas,” added Abaz.

Furthermore, Chaerinna shared tips in finding race information. He also shared tips for writing their essays.

“We can get information about the organization of the competition by following Instagram accounts that upload the latest race information. In our opinion, to be able to make quality essays can be done by increasing experience in the field of writing. If you have already entered the world of writing, it will shape your experience in the next competition,” said Chaerinna.

At the end of the interview session, Abaz advised to appreciate every process that was passed. He also invited students to excel and give dedication to the country.

“The effort to be successful is a process, while winning is the result. Therefore, respect every process and always hone yourself in your process. Let’s excel and show dedication to the country,” said Abaz.
