FKIP – To equip students with special needs to have economic independence, Lecturers of the Extraordinary Education Study Program (PLB) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta through the Research Group (RG) Special Policy Science Development carry out Batik Skills Mentoring activities Write for Teachers and Students with Special Needs at the Special School (SLB) SLB ABCD YPALB Cepogo, Boyolali.
Chaired by Prof. Dr. Sunardi, M.Sc., The RG Team for the PLB FKIP UNS Study Program consists of 5 members. The five members are Sugini, M.Pd., Mohammad Anwar M.Pd., Tias Martika, M.Pd., Dr. Supriyadi, M.Pd., and Donni Prakosha, M.Pd. The mentoring activity for writing batik skills training was attended by 13 teachers of SLB ABCD YPALB Cepogo and 10 students with special needs.
The implementation of assistance is carried out in two stages. The first stage is the delivery of material that contains the theory, technique, and practice of written batik skills. The activity was carried out from Sunday to Monday (24-25/5/2022). Meanwhile, the second stage in this assistance is training on the marketing of written batik products based on e-commerce.
This assistance presents two speakers. The first resource person is Budi, who is a practitioner of written batik from Kampung Batik Laweyan as an expositor of material on written batik skills. While the second resource person is Tim Kaelea.id based on product marketing e-commerce.
In his speech, Sugini, M.Pd. as the RG Team for the PLB FKIP UNS Study Program said that the second phase of this assistance had an implementation target, namely teachers and students with special needs at SLB ABCD YPALB Cepogo Boyolali. He hopes that this activity can improve the skills of teachers and students with special needs in developing batik products made by students with special needs at SLB ABCD YPALB Cepogo Boyolali which has been initiated by the school.
“We are not only limited to students with special needs, but we also provide teachers here. We hope that teachers can have written batik skills so they can implement them in the next generation of students with special needs. As for students with special needs themselves, this written batik skill assistance is expected to be their provision to acquire skills that can be implemented when they graduate so that they are economically independent,” said Sugini.
The chairman of the SLB ABCD YPALB Foundation Cepogo Boyolali, Tri Mulyo, M.Pd., conveyed the school’s good response to this activity. He hopes that this activity can be carried out on an ongoing basis so that students gain useful knowledge outside of the academic field.
“We are very happy with this activity. Hopefully, activities like this can be carried out sustainably so that schools, teachers, and students at the SLB ABCD YPALB Foundation in Cepogo Boyolali will gain knowledge that is very useful outside of the academic field,” Tri hoped.
