FKIP – International Office (IO) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held an International e-Learning Essay Competition as one of the series of 46 UNS Anniversary. This competition is held online and was announced on Friday (20/5/2022).

This competition aims as a means for students to express ideas related to the implementation of learning in the new normal transition era in the form of essays. This was stated by Lina Mahaardiani, ST, MM, M.Sc., Ph.D. as the PIC of this activity.

“This competition aims as a means for students to express originality ideas related to the implementation of learning in the new normal transition era in the form of essays. Furthermore, students are expected to show their soft skills in conveying ideas in a coherent, logical, and confident manner through oral presentations. In addition, this activity is also expected to increase the branding of FKIP and UNS as one of the best universities in Indonesia,” said Lina.

This essay competition carries the theme “Transformative Learning as an Effective Instruction in The Online Environment Teaching Practice”.

The competition is held with the following timeline: registration, 7 March-18 March 2022; essay submission deadline, April 30, 2022; finalist announcement, 11 May 2022; finalist presentation, 18 May 2022; and announcement of winners, 20 May 2022.

The competition was participated by students from Indonesia and abroad. This was also conveyed by Lina.

“Participants who take part in the competition are still dominated by participants from Indonesia, especially universities located on the island of Java. Even though there were some participants from the Philippines,” explained Lina.

5 people are judges in this competition, namely (1) Dr. Mageswary Karpudewan, Associate Professor from Universiti Sains Malaysia, (2) Dr. Farida Nurhasanah, Director of the SEAMEO Program, 3) Paramita C. Kuswandi, PPh.D. lecturer at Yogyakarta State University, (4) Abdul Haris Setiawan, Ph.D., Lecturer of Building Engineering Education at UNS, and (5) Dr. Ari S. Shidiq Lecturer in Chemistry Education.

From the series of activities, the winners of this essay competition were announced as follows. (1) I Dewa Gede Wicaksana Prabaswara and Putu Oki Wiradita Aryawan from IPB; (2) Olga Tessalonica, Amalia Zahira, and Zabrina Yunus from IPB, (3) Istinganah Saetu Rohmah, Khasanda Meilani Alifia, and Pramesti Norma Andarini from UNS.

In addition, the winners of the oral presentation competition category were also announced as follows. (1) I Dewa Gede Wicaksana Prabaswara and Putu Oki Wiradita Aryawan from IPB; (2) Iqbal Candra Maulana, Salma Fauzia Wardani, and Khoirun Nisa Ramadhani from UNS; and (3) Tenistya Deril Aisyah, Nurul Maemunah, and Izza Laila Nur Rohmah from UNS.
