The chairman of the organizing committee, Agus Tri Susilo, S.Pd., M.Pd. in his report said that the Independent Curriculum was developed as a flexible curriculum framework while focusing on essential materials, character development, and competency development for students with the main characteristics of which are project-based learning in the development of soft skills and the character profile of Pancasila students.

“In this curriculum structure, especially at the high school level, for example, there is no mention of majors, only the selection of subjects, choices based on the talents and interests of the students, so this is where the role of the BK teacher is in preparing the profiles of students in terms of personal academic, social and career goals. so that the BK teachers play a role in tracing talents, interests, and personality tendencies in a precise and accurate manner,” said Agus.

The Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si. in his speech said that the expert lecture of the BK Study Program took an exciting theme, namely “Implementation of the Independent Curriculum in Guidance and Counseling Services in Schools”. The current government has made changes to related policies in the Independent Learning Curriculum.

“So far, the government has issued 21 episodes related to the Independent Learning Curriculum, with this it is hoped that lecturers and teachers in universities, high schools and vocational schools, junior high schools, and even elementary schools can make adjustments and implement policies for the Independent Learning Curriculum at the individual unit level, “said Dr. Mardiyana.

In the university environment, there is a policy of the Independent Learning Campus Independent Curriculum (MBKM) which facilitates students to study off-campus for three semesters or 20-60 Semester Credit Units (SKS). From this, it is hoped that students will have the opportunity to study outside the campus. In this case, the BK Study Program can work together with partners, both in the school environment, the industrial world, the community, and so on, so that students can study outside the campus and can know the conditions in the field.

In addition, it is also hoped that it can bring practitioners into the campus environment so that students get practical education from practitioners so that students can be served, facilitated, and develop according to their interests and talents.

“We on behalf of the faculty give our appreciation to the Guidance and Counseling Study Program for holding this event and we thank the resource persons, the organizing committee, and Mr. and Mrs Lecturers and BK teachers as well as all attendees who have attended this activity. By fulfilling the committee’s request to open this expert lecture event, then by saying bismillahirrahmanirrahim, the expert lecture with the theme ‘Implementation of an Independent Curriculum in Guidance and Counseling Services in Schools’ is officially declared open,” said Dr. Mardiyana.

This was followed by the presentation of expert lecture materials and sharing sessions from the speakers, guided by Dr. Ribut Purbaningrum, M.Pd.
