FKIP – The community service team, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education, Sebelas Maret University collaborated across study programs. The collaboration was carried out by Dr. Septi Yulisetiani, M.Pd. from the Master of Elementary School Teacher Education study program with Puspanda Hatta, S.Kom., M.Eng., and Yusfia Hafid Aristyagama, S.T., M.T., from the Informatics Engineering Education study program. They assisted a number of elementary school teachers who were gathered in the Dabin V teacher working group (KKG), Diponegoro Cluster, Karanganyar Regency. Assistance is carried out through a series of workshops on the development of learning media based on mobile applications.

The advantages of this activity include, teachers are trained to make android applications for learning media without having to master complicated programming languages. The learning media created by these teachers can later be installed on the android smartphones of students and teachers. So that it will increase the variety of learning media used in online and offline learning.

Also present was the school superintendent, Mrs. Temon Kinasih, S.Pd., M.Pd. In her remarks, she appreciated the activities of the UNS community service team and conveyed several messages for the participants. “As supervisors, I hope that the teachers who participated in the workshop can absorb knowledge about mobile application-based learning media and be able to develop the best media for students in their respective schools and can share the knowledge gained with colleagues.

In the guided practice session to develop mobile application-based learning media, participants seemed very enthusiastic. Starting from setting up the device, downloading supporting applications, choosing media content, and practicing developing it. “The assistance to develop learning media based on mobile applications is very interesting. I am passionate about developing digital learning media to attract the attention of my students so that their learning motivation increases.” Said, Umi Ari Manis, one of the workshop participants from SD Cangakan 3 Karanganyar.

On the occasion, the team from UNS also stated that the products produced by these teachers can not only be used for teaching and learning activities, but can also be sold in the Android application market, namely Google Playstore. If this creativity is consistently carried out by teachers, then it will not only increase learning technology literacy but also improve the welfare of teachers through technopreneurship based on mobile application technology.
