FKIP – A number of students from the Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Universitas Sebelas Maret (UNS) Surakarta helped digitize and create an SNI-based public market in Surakarta through the People’s Market Youth Movement Program.

This program is the result of collaboration between the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) and the Ministry of Trade (Kemendag). The activity lasts for 1 semester or 6 months starting from February 10, 2022 – July 29, 2022.

There were 8 FKIP students who joined, including Fatkhul Nursafaah from the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program, Lutfi Variska Putri from the Economics Education Study Program, Ahmad Rifki Hardiansyah from the Guidance and Counseling Study Program, David Indra Cahya from the Economic Education Study Program, Isnanda Nur Ramdani from the Pancasila and Citizenship Education Study Program, Sri Kusuma Lestari from the Economic Education Study Program, Mi’raj Akbar Pradianto from the Economic Education Study Program, and Kinanthi Suryaningsih from the Economic Education Study Program.

This internship is designed for students to apply the knowledge they have gained during their lectures to help empower people’s markets for the better.

Fatkhul Nursafaah explained that there are 3 internship activities in this program.

“There are three activities, namely the application of SNI for the people’s market, the application of digitizing the people’s market, and increasing the capacity of traders through market schools,” explained Fatkhul when interviewed by the fkip.uns.ac.id team on Saturday (1/10/2022).

Fatkhul shared the impression he got during this internship.

“The impression of participating in this internship is that I definitely get a new learning experience where previously I and several friends rarely went to the market, but on this occasion we come to the market almost every day and the intensity to the market is more frequent. Get knowledge and direction from the head of the market, the trade department, and from mentors. So, it adds to the relationship because it works with various parties,” he explained.

At the end, Fatkhul advised the younger generation to participate in enlivening the people’s market.

“Hopefully young people can also come to enliven the people’s market because there are many small traders who expect their buyers to come. Hopefully, this internship program can be held again in the following year both in Surakarta and in other regencies so that more traders can receive assistance and improve market quality,” he concluded.
