FKIP – Sociology Anthropology Education Student Association (Himadiksan) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held Microteaching 101 webinar with the theme “Important Skill for Future Teacher” on Tuesday (27/12/2022). The webinar was held online through the Zoom Meeting application.

Moderated by Rama Mauliddian Panuluh a Student of the Sociology Anthropology Education Study Program FKIP UNS, this webinar presented 2 speakers. The first resource person was Riadi Syafutra Siregar, S.Pd., M.Sc. He is a Lecturer in Sociology Anthropology Education Study Program at FKIP UNS.

He presented material entitled “Microteaching”. In presenting the material he explained the comparison of microteaching with team teaching and peer teaching, the purpose of microteaching, the characteristics of microteaching, teacher competence, and teaching skills to the performance of a good teacher. He argues that microteaching has general and specific goals.

“There are 2 objectives of microteaching, namely general and specific. The general aim of microteaching is to improve various teaching skills so that prospective teachers can create an effective, efficient, and interesting learning process that is educational,” said Riadi.

Meanwhile, the specific objectives of microteaching according to Riadi are 4. The four specific objectives are being able to analyze the learning behavior of his friends and himself, being able to carry out various types of skills in the learning process, being able to create effective, productive, and efficient learning situations, and being able to act professionally.

Furthermore, he also explained the 8 teaching skills that must be possessed by a teacher. The eight skills are opening and closing learning, carrying out variations, explaining the material, providing reinforcement, managing classes, leading small group discussions, teaching, and motivating students.

Meanwhile, the second resource person was Meita Indah Setyaputri. He is a student of the Sociology Anthropology Education Study Program FKIP UNS who won 3rd place in the Microteaching Competition in the 2022 National Anthropology Sociology Education Student Competition. In his presentation, he presented material entitled “Discussion with the Teacher?”

He started the material by explaining the definition of microteaching. Then, he also explained the stages of microteaching, the rules of conduct for microteaching competitions, the importance of learning media in microteaching, to aspects of evaluating microteaching competitions.

“What is microteaching? Micro teaching or microteaching is a model of teaching practice training in a limited or microscope to develop basic teaching skills or we are familiar with the term base teachingsskill,” explained Meita.

There are 4 aspects of assessing the microteaching competition as described by Meita. These aspects are the quality of preparing lesson plans and the suitability of lesson plans with implementation, the methods and media used, class dynamics and class management, and mastery of the material.

After the presentation of the activity material, it was followed by a question-and-answer discussion session, and a workshop, and ended with a joint documentation session.
