FKIP – Students of the Teaching and Education Faculty (FKIP) of Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta have succeeded in making achievements at the prestigious Peksimida XVI 2022. This UNS student won 2nd place at the Central Java level. The students who succeeded in making this achievement were Wanda Ayudya Riwibowo from the Javanese Language Education Study Program (FKIP), Rosa Faustina Sari Maandag (FEB), Eustakia Septefany Lidyawati (SV), Asrining Puspito Jati (SV), and Nabiran Fungki Bawono (FISIP).
The Peksimida Championships or XVI Central Java regional student art week 2022 is being held by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research and Technology through the Indonesian Student Art Advisory Board (BPSMI extension) Central Java at the ISI Surakarta Grand Theater in September 2022.
When interviewed by the team fkip.uns.ac.id on Tuesday (17/01/2023), Nabiran said that the dance they performed told about a game that brings nostalgia. With today’s technological advances so many innovations have been created that can become a means of channeling expression. However, behind that all, there is an old memory that will not be forgotten.
“This story is inspired by the folk song Bald-Bad Pacul, which is when someone has gained power, wealth, or great things. Humans tend to forget and feel proud, this is what can instantly overthrow the person by itself, “explained Nabiran.
Furthermore, Nabiran also conveyed that the story in the dance has a synopsis that choices often collide with oneself, if that happens there is no right or wrong. On the side other they want justice and at the same time they want mercy, at a certain moment they want freedom, at the same time they want togetherness. Every choice is compromised by an invisible sense of loss.
In preparing for the competition, Nabiran admitted that they had to face many difficulties. Starting from the delay in the schedule for organizing the competition as well as changes in implementation instructions and technical instructions that caused changes in the formation of dancers to material changes.
“These changes also affect the mentality of the dancers, because dancers need to readjust. In addition, the long training process starting from February to September 2022 causes it to sometimes reach a saturation point and the hard training process causes excessive fatigue and some even cause injuries,” he said.
But despite the difficulties they experienced, Nabiran was happy to be able to take part in the competition, because the competition added new experience and knowledge about the creation of dance works, especially contemporary dance.
“I feel happy to take part in this competition because it can add new relationships both inside and outside UNS and this activity is a means of getting along with fellow dancers, musicians, and management,” he said.
After winning second place, Nabiran hopes to go forward and hope that UNS students will be more interested in art, especially contemporary dance, and can channel it into various competitions so that they can bring UNS a good name.
