FKIP – The Biology Education Study Program, Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a “Workshop on Skill Upgrading in Utilizing Digital-Based Biology Learning Resources” on Friday (13/8/2021). The activity was guided by Dr. Meti Indrowati, M.Sc. by presenting two speakers, namely Dr. Bambang Supriatno, M.Sc. as an expert on biology learning media as well as the Head of the Department of Biology Education at the Indonesian University of Education (UPI) Bandung and Abdul Rizal Adompo, S.T., M.T. as Content IT Manager SEAMOLEC.
The series of workshops was officially opened by the Dean of FKIP UNS, Dr. Mardiyana, M.Si., and remarks by the Head of Biology Education Study Program Dr. Muzazzinah, M.Si. This activity is intended specifically for lecturers and students of Biology Education FKIP UNS and the education community in general. The main objective of this workshop is to increase the ability and knowledge of digital biology learning resources.
The first resource person, Dr. Bambang explained the material on the use of digital biology learning resources. In his presentation, Dr. Bambang explained the various learning resources. Current conditions also require that teachers inevitably have to interact with digital learning resources.
“Learning biology as part of science should not only provide knowledge, but must also provide character enrichment and still rely on the nature of science, namely processes, products, and applications,” he explained.

The utilization of digital learning resources must also be able to wisely synergize aspects of content, technology, and pedagogy. In addition, Dr. Bambang also gave an example of developing more interesting learning resources by using mobile phones together with the use of microscope learning media.
The second speaker, Abdul Rizal M.T. deliver material about making digital learning media. In this session, he explained the use of the Nearpod application as a means of making digital learning media that can be developed by lecturers and prospective teacher students. The Nearpod application is equipped with various features that help make learning more interactive and interesting, including the “activity-time to climbing” feature that can modify quizzes into interesting game forms. In addition, this application also provides various resources including 3 AR which helps students understand the material through visualization of augmented reality.
The series of workshop activities continued the next day which was filled with the practice of making digital learning materials guided by Abdul Rizal Adompo, S.T., M.T. The activity was closed by the Head of Biology Education Study Program on Saturday (14/8/2021).
