FKIP – Student Creativity Program Team – Community Service (PKM-PM) Teacher Training and Education Faculty (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta proposed the idea of the Srikandi program successfully passing the PKM incentive of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology (Kemendikbudristek) fiscal year 2021.

Carrying the title “The Srikandi Program to Develop the Role of Parents in Learning in a Pandemic Period”, Hesti and her friends hope to guide parents, especially mothers, to help their children in online learning in addition to household matters.

Under the guidance of Moh. Salimi, M.Pd. as Lecturers of the Kebumen Elementary School Teacher Education Study Program (PGSD), Hesti Lestari, Laely Rizki Amalia, Amiliyah, Desti Maya Windasari, and Widya Ayuningtyas, as a team from PGSD Kebumen explained the background to the emergence of the proposed idea, namely the need for skills and knowledge for parents, especially mothers in educating and raising children to become quality human beings in the future.

“Online learning problems are experienced by students, teachers, and parents. Many parents, especially mothers, experience difficulties while accompanying their children to learn online. There needs to be knowledge and understanding of parents as substitute teachers in educating children,” explained Hesti.

Hesti and the team carried out a service program for the Family Welfare Empowerment (PKK) group of Rukun Tetangga (RT) 4 Rukun Warga (RW) 2 Jogomertan Village, Petanahan.

“The target parents that we will foster are PKK women RT 04/RW 02, Jogomertan Village, Petanahan,” said Hesti.

While carrying out community service, Hesti and the team produced several outcomes that would be given to PKK women.

“The outputs we produce include activity manuals, parenting modules, organizational structure for program sustainability, progress reports, and final reports,” explained Hesti.

In the end, Hesti conveyed the expected benefits of her service program. She hopes that this program can increase the role of parents in overcoming the problems of children’s education.

“We hope that this program can increase the role of parents in overcoming children’s education problems, increase parents’ awareness of the importance of coaching programs in supporting children’s learning success, and increase parents’ understanding of changes in children’s behavior during the pandemic,” Hesti concluded.
