FKIP – Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta students underwent a series of Real Work Lecture (KKN) activities, the Karangbangun 165 KKN group which was incorporated in the UNS KKN Build a Village 2021 initiated a socialization program for student guardian consultations regarding children’s online schools.

The activity was held at the Dungsari Meeting Hall on Saturday (14/8/2021). Meanwhile, the activity participants were the guardians of Dukuh Dungsari students who have children aged from Kindergarten (TK) to Junior High School (SMP). This socialization activity was also the opening activity for a series of KKN activities that will be carried out in Dukuh Dungsari.

This program was officially opened by the Head of Dusun Jogolatan and the Head of the local RW. Budi as the head of the hamlet greatly appreciated the activities carried out by these KKN students.

“Given that currently there is still a pandemic condition, where students are still carrying out online schools. Many parents of students experience difficulties in accompanying their children during the learning process due to various other activities they have. I think this program is very appropriate and useful to implement where this program accommodates parental complaints to be followed up and find alternative solutions together. Hopefully, this program can be utilized optimally by the guardians of Dukuh Dungsari students,” said Budi in his speech.

Aulia Anjani as the Coordinator of the UNS KKN Karangbangun Village also said that the idea of carrying out this activity started from the anxiety experienced by parents, when online schools not only confuse students but also parents.

“For this reason, we have initiated a program that can accommodate their complaints in accompanying their children to study. I think there are quite a lot of parents who are confused about who to ask for help in studying. Because currently we as KKN students are tasked with serving in the village, we facilitate this activity to be followed up with online consultation services via Whatsapp groups and offline child learning assistance,” he explained.

Thobaroni, one of the KKN members, also hopes that this activity will help the community and reduce their burden a little. According to him, online learning requires synergy between parents and children, therefore KKN students try to start this synergy by inviting their guardians to convey their complaints.

Rahesya Nika, one of the students’ parents, revealed that with this program her children are more enthusiastic about learning, become more aware of the material they are learning, and are not easily bored when studying. Aulia explained that parents appreciate this activity.

“Alhamdulillah, most parents really appreciate the activities carried out by 165 KKN students. In fact, they even ask students to continue this program outside of KKN by holding private lessons for their children,” concluded Aulia.
