FKIP – The Mathematics Education Study Program Student Association (HMP) Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a program named Socialization of Journals, Seminars, and Scripts (Sour Secript) via Zoom Cloud Meeting on Sunday (3/10/2021).

This event was opened directly by Dr. Triyanto S.Si., M.Sc. as the Head of the Mathematics Education Study Program. In his speech, Dr. Triyanto expressed his hope that every student of Mathematics Education could have the ability to compile a journal.

“Our target is to learn how to compile journals. The hope is that each student will be able to make a journal,” said Dr. Triyanto.

This activity was moderated by Sri Lestari as a student of Mathematics Education. There were three presenters who are lecturers of Mathematics Education FKIP UNS, namely Arum Nur Wandari, S.Pd., M.Pd., Dr. Laila Fitriana, S.Pd., M.Pd., and Henny Ekana C., S.Si., M.Pd.

The first speaker, Dr. Laila Fitriana, S.Pd., M.Pd. delivered material about seminars, especially mathematics seminars. At the beginning of the presentation, Dr. Laila conveyed the purpose of the mathematics seminar.

“The goal is that each student can develop pure mathematics topics independently,” Dr. Laila explained.

Fields of study that can be written can be in the form of new findings, material that has never been given in lectures, or development material. Furthermore, Dr. Laila explained the requirements and process for registering for a mathematics seminar, the guidance process, and the exam. She also gave some examples of mathematics seminar titles as an illustration for Sour Secript participants.

The second speaker, Henny Ekana C., S.Si., M.Pd. delivered material about the thesis. Before delivering the material, Henny asked the participants’ opinions about the thesis. Then, she explained the material starting with the understanding and content of the thesis. Furthermore, Henny explained material that could be used as a thesis topic.

“Topics that can be used as topics can be anything related to learning mathematics in junior high or high school,” said Henny.

The third speaker, Arum Nur Wandari, S.Pd., M.Pd. presenting material about the journal. Arum said that the preparation of the journal could be based on the thesis that had been done. Arum also presents a comparison between the old flow and the new flow of journal article management. Next, the presenters presented examples of published journal articles. The activity ended with a group photo session and games from the committee.
