FKIP – Bachelor Degree of Science Education Study Program Faculty of Teacher Training and Education (FKIP) Sebelas Maret University (UNS) Surakarta held a Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement Workshop for the Merdeka Learning Program Merdeka Campus (MBKM) on Saturday (2/10/2021) ). This activity presented two resource persons, namely the Head of the Study Program (Kaprodi) of the International Science Education Program, Universitas Pendidikan Indonesia (UPI), Dr. Eka Cahya Prima, S.Pd, M.T. and the Principal of SMPN 27 Surakarta, Endang Puji Rahayu, M.Pd, as partner schools for the Science Education Study Program FKIP UNS.

The activity was attended by MBKM partner schools, civil servant teachers, and schools receiving student teaching practices. The activity began with an opening by the Deputy Dean for Academic, Research, and Student Affairs FKIP UNS, Prof. Dr. Slamet Subiyantoro, M.Pd. He expressed his appreciation for the MBKM activities that have been carried out in the Science Education Study Program.

“The MBKM activity or Merdeka Learning Campus Merdeka is a program carried out by the government (Kemdikbudristek) to improve the quality of Indonesian education. The implementation of MBKM this year feels special, first, because the MBKM program is getting more diverse. Second, because there are more MBKM partners this year than the previous year,” explained Prof. Slamet.

Prof. Slamet continued that the ongoing MBKM programs include K3 internships, research projects, and village development programs, entrepreneurship programs, teaching assistance, and work or industrial internships.
The implementation of this MBKM received a grant from the Sebelas Maret University or the MBKM Grant. Submission of this grant is intended to assist students in implementing the program.

The activity continued with the delivery of material by the resource person, Dr. Eka Cahya Prima, S.Pd. He conveyed the long-term focus of the implementation of this activity, namely to prepare study programs in the implementation of international accreditation.

“The Workshop on Quality Assurance and Quality Improvement of the MBKM Program is not only to ensure the quality of the implementation of MBKM with study program partners but also to support the plan for the S-1 Science Education study program to register with international accreditation institutions in the next few years,” said Dr. Eka.

Dr. Eka focused on the discussion about the preparations that must be made to register study programs at international accreditation institutions, one of which is the fulfillment of aspects of high education standards.

Furthermore, Endang Puji Rahayu, M.Pd as the second resource person explained the profile of teachers needed by schools during the pandemic and in the future, educational curricula that need to be perfected, the application of creative ideas from students, and the implementation of research in teaching practice. The activity ended with a question and answer session and a group photo.
